and before you complained:
1) I don't care what person A allegedly paid to person B for it
2) 2008 market was booming
3) this (I think) was before DMCA crackdowns on torrent sites, today you would have to pay me to own it (developed)
5) this my opinion only
Was it a developed website, or was it just for the domain ?
I find it highly unlikely that the sale would repeat itself, the extension is not very sought after.
In that niche, I don't think anybody is willing to spend on the aftermarket for a credible domain, because domains can be seized/disabled anytime, so they are treated as disposable items. Somebody who wants to set up a torrent site would consider the .ws for regfee, but will otherwise move on to another poor extension (even .tk).
Imo you are looking at low $$$ max.
.ws isn't that poor to be compared with .tk. It still have some good sales. From namebio I can see lots of sales in 2011, and noticed torrent.ws sold for $2k (sedo sale) in 2011 and actually is developed and has PR5
@sdsinc, based on archive.org torrents (.) ws was developed in 2006-2008.
It might be a website sale.
Sold for $1,167 in 2008 after the owner put development into the name and forum announced the auction. The dot cc sold a year later for $325. We are four years removed for that cc sale. Ill say $3xx name alone Goodluck.
Now on Trying to keep my appraisal time under 3 min. (this one i spent longer lol) Sorry if there is a mistake or two.
