Hi there,

I have a little tool called fsdtool allowing to generata and check short domains like:

L.xx, L-L.xx, LLL.xx, L..L.xx, PREFIX-L..L.xx,
N.xx, NN.xx, N-N.xx, NNN.xx, N..N.xx, PREFIX-N..N.xx,
C.xx, CC.xx, C-C.xx, CCC.xx, C..C.xx, PREFIX-C..C.xx,

also following combinations like a-a-a.xx, b-b-b.xx, c-c-c.xx, ...

here is a link with a video: http://www.opencos.pl/offers/sfdtool/private_demo/

makes life much easier ;) Because it starts in a terminal I can also run many searches at one time. In combination with little scripts i write its really powerful.
What tools are you using to find the best shortest domains?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Thanks. I already have a newer version - not published jet. It now feautures also a "learning" functionality. So the search gets faster after the second try.

And with faster I mean really, really, really faster. The 2, 3 search for LLLs is performed in only 1-2 minutes, not 10-20 hours. Imagine, checking a range of 20000 domains in 1 minute!

I have already found some really cool super-premium domains like 1.xx, 3.xx, 9.xx, 44444.xx, etc.

Currently I removed the video and will replace it with some screenshots soon as I put the newest version for download on the site.

Trouble with this software is that because there's a very limited number of 1 or 2 letter domains what purpose will it have when someone has scanned them all and registered what's there? What use will the software be then?

@samjones

Thanks!

@Dave

Well the software can a little bit more than 1 letters only. It can check 1-letters, 2-letters, 3-letters, 4-letters,
theoretically also 5-letters but this would result in giant databases (26*27*27*27*26)*(5byte+1byte+avarage12byte) so I use it only to check for the coolest 5-numbers like 10222 etc.

The first check takes long, but from the second check its really fast, since it knows what domains are long befor getting expired so they do not need to be checked. This lets it check only potentially free domains and makes it very fast.

Looks interesting but $60 is too much for me to pay just to experiment with something before even knowing I want it; don't suppose you have a free trial version since this is a custom downloadable script.... ?

I have a little tool called

Note to self:
Dude, never ever start a sentence with 'I have a little tool'

Thanks :)

Thanks for the tip,

my English is not so good, sorry. In future I'll try to write "I have a cool tool" ;)
Well in deed its a compiled Java program no script, it comes with some scripts making the usage easy - the most common searches. Since it is compiled its also possible to me to make a demo version, a free trial. Seems 60$ is much, and I can understand that nobody wants to put money away. And you are not the first asking for a demo. So I am working to prepare a free demo supporting only "x-z4-6". If somebody finds free domains - lucky guy, but then I think he even more would be behind the full version ;)

I'll put the free demo on the page with the newest version where the mentioned "learning" support is included - the program remembers domains checked so it checks later only actual ones. With time it gets faster and faster.

I think next week I'll have checked it also on Windows and prepare the website with the new version. In any case I'll anounce this on Namepros :)

There are no one letter domains available for registration with renewal fees under $500 USD

And that is a fact :O

Where did you take this data from? Maybe I'm out of date but 1 month ago I've registered 2 one character domains for 200$ - and people told thats much because for other domains they pay less.

Do you have a list? What's about the big European domains like .de, .pl, .ro - they are always taken but can hardly imagine they take premium prices for 1-character in any big European ccTLD.

Greetings

Update: what about your own post big sale? Renewal fee for 50$. ?

New version ready search_short_domains 1.2.
It includes the new "learning" function - the software learns about checked domains and makes a search much faster next time. It is extremly fast, you can even check 18000 domains in under 27 seconds to see if any is free, or sometimes even faster than this. The "learning" works with many domains especially the popular .com/.net/.org/.co/.ca/.biz/.info
It includes now also the new one-command easy-search scripts for Windows and comes with an own whois that is a port of the powerful GNU whois from Linux with updated TLD list.

This tool gives a quite better position in catching the hot LLL/NNN/NNNN etc.
Price is only 45 EUR/60 USD

Check it out!

I have been using this tool for several days. Overall it is great. Easy to use, light, fast, very effective.
Although I haven't regged any domain using this tool, I've found lots of interesting domains available. I'm planning to reg some of them. :)
If you don't understand a command, the seller is very communicative and will explain it to you.
It is a useful tool for domainers.
My rate for this tool is 10/10
I recommend it to any domainer.

enjoy. Maybe you even find nice free domains with the demo :) Though of course the automated "cool & easy" scripts for the best searches and the full 0-9,a-z range are only in the full version.

sorry - did not catch it. what do you mean? Do you want a short domain for your company? Visit http://www.1-single-letter-domains.com - we have the shortest domains in the world you can buy - at a good price and good domain quality. You can also rent the domain at 25Euro/month if you develop new projects and find its to expensive and to early to buy one. Though the April Special prices are 40% reduced so its a good time for a buy.
