Hello all. I have been searching for about a year for a tool, app, or site that tells you how many (and which if possible) extensions a domain is registered in. The brokers that send out the newsletters stating how many extensions are taken in a name refuse to share this information, and those in the industry that normally respond are not. Seems this is a closely guarded secret. I personally love sharing helpful ideas, tools, and methods to help with domain success with everyone who asks or wants information.

Anyone know, or is this a big secret?

It is not a secret. Uniregistry is excellent for that purpose, simple and free.

it automatically searches 250 misc top extensions very quickly.

Being their competition, I can see why they are silent about it.

You can use to see how many extensions are registered for any word.

There are two ways to do that:

Thanks! Great site!

Though I think Godaddy recently made a deal to buy Uniregistry. If you go to uniregistry you'll see a notice at the top of the pages

If I replace in the url it's works but if i use the search function I don't get that details, I wonder why

Search only works for domains that are on one of the lists.

But, is there a way on the site to get that page without replacing in the url?

I use Dotdb.com, knowing domains registered in how many TLDs, and cold marketing by email if my domain might an upgrade for their domains.

Dofo.com is free and does exactly what you want. Will also show how many TLDs are for sale
Wherever I go, it seems every other perfect answer ... comes from Bob Hawkes. You rock, dude! Thank you (again)

UPDATE Aug25 2024 - On those days that graen.com is working (w/out dopey 'too short' error message), it shows number of extensions AND other info, incl how many domains in total have the keyword in the domain name.

Also, https://dotdb.com/search?keyword=domain&position=any, --- Replace ''domain" with your word

Really intereesting to go through and see the mass changes to these tools over the last 4-5 years!
What do folks use for this in 2025?? 😊

Yes, dotDB has extended what it offers, to now include search and advertiser information, for those with one of their paid plans (while still offering number of exact extensions and total domain count for a limited number of searches per day on the free plan). They also offer additional information like language/translate.

I interviewed the founder and CEO if you want to read more about the development of the instrument:

Hello,

It’s great you're looking for tools to check domain registration across multiple extensions. While brokers typically keep this info private, here are some ways to find it:

  1. Whois Lookup: Sites like Whois.com or ICANN WHOIS can show domain registration details, including some extensions.
  2. Domain Research Tools: Platforms like DomCop and ExpiredDomains.net provide lists of available or expired domains with their extensions.
  3. Domain Brokers: Trusted brokers might share details on various extensions if you build a relationship with them.
