Too Ambitious?

Haven't posted on Namepros in quite a while, but the domain bug has bit me again and I must admit, it's good to be back. :hi:

About a year ago I started a Logo Competition which proved quite popular and was for my site SlidingTackle.com - which was basically a soccer forum. Unfortunately, after I accrued close to 1000 members, the web host crashed, I lost all my members and didn't have a backup! (my own fault, obviously). I lost the will to live at that point and never started it up again!

However, now (after recovering ) I want to start it up again. So my basic question (finally!) is, I have a type of logo in mind and I was wondering if it was to ambitious and if anyone knew any professional logo designers who I could seek out in order to create it? I'm looking for a layerd logo, incorporating a number of strong soccer images, my domain name and an appealing colour(s). Examples which I have come accross:

Do you think this is too ambitious? I feel a good logo is of fundamental importance; let's face it, if you want people to spend any amount of time on your site, it better look half decent! I would be looking to spend no more than $150, and would be looking to consult a professional designer. However, I may even consider creating a new logo competition on here and seeing how it goes? The standard was pretty good last time round.

I'd say start another competition.

Those example's you showed are actually pretty simple to do in PhotoShop and I'm sure a fair few people on this forum could do it especially if you have $150 as your budget.

If you make a contest with "$150 for a logo" then you will get more entry's than you could count.

If there was a hint of a soccer ball in the bottom right corner..just a hint..the reknowned black and white pattern...It would be unmistakeably obvious what the site was about. Visually it would take less than a second to convey your message.
