There is a thread regarding the domain tmobiletogo.com on a mobile forum that I visit.
T-Mobile has just changed their prepaid plans from EasySpeak to T-Mobile To Go. The change was officially launched yesterday. At the start of the month, the information was leaked to the message forum. Within a day, someone had registered tmobiletogo.com. If you go to the site, you can see what it says there "Future site of T-mobile prepaid cards." A whois search shows the site regged by an individual, not T-Mobile. There is obviously a slim chance T-Mobile had regged the name and was holding it under an individual's name (possibly someone who works on the website) until the official launch. However, T-Mobile To Go has launched, and this site still sits as is. T-Mobile has a section for T-Mobile To Go at t-mobile.com.
I say it's an obvious case of cybersquatting. What amazes me are the number of people over there who seem to think this guy has done nothing wrong, or even that he might get money from T-Mobile over this. One guy even thought that because T-Mobile's name is T-Mobile and not TMobile, the hyphen made the name okay. Obviously, you can go to t-mobile.com and tmobile.com and get the same result. (I'm lazy and usually forget the hyphen anyway.)
I guess I give people too much credit. Common sense says that someone who regs a name because they think someone else will pay you for it means you are doing it to make a profit. Before I had ever thought of buying and selling domains, I understood that anything with a trademark is something to stay away from.
I guess I'm just letting off some stream because I know the people here will understand what I'm saying. It's frustrating to talk to people about something when they don't know anything about the subject!
