new gtlds TM domains | design (.) guide

Hi,

I wanted to register a domain design (.) guide, but I found a Trademark [designguide] and decided not to buy it. Now the domain redirecting to rampart(.)ca.
Do you think I made a mistake?

I see that many domainers buying TM domains.. I mean [genericword.genericword].
Are you trying to avoid infringing an existing TM?

I think those words are too general to have prevented you from regging and keeping that domain. There is no guarantee that Rampart would have bought it from you, but it's possible that you missed a pretty good sale. In the future, register the domain first, and then research later, if you think it's so good that someone else may snatch it. If you conclude that it's not worth keeping the domain within 4-5 days you can grace delete and get a refund (at least that's Godaddy's policy).

I do it every now and then.

No not on general daily used words. Mostly read the TM:s though just in case.
