Times Now is a 24-hour English news channel in India.

Many big players are behind it, as it's actually a joint venture between Reuters and Bennett, Coleman and Co (the publishers of the Times of India).

They were first launched on mobiles and then started broadcasting on tv screens through a partnership with Star TV (part of News Corp, who owns Fox and Sky amongst others).

So, this is a big news channel made by some huge players for one of the biggest new markets in the world (India).

And they chose .tv for their website too :

NewsCorp own the domain timesnow.com but it doesn't even resolve.
Bennett, Coleman and Co own timesnow.in but it simply redirects to timesnow.tv

They also own Timesnow.in/.co.in which they are forwarding to the .tv

Yes you quite spot on Michael with these guys. They just bought out Virgin radio I believe for £53 million and they seem to be quite agressive on various acquisitions to expand their digital empire. I'm actually considering approahing them about TimesNews.tv, however I have quite a number of other prospects in mind as well for this domain, its a big one!. Times news has well over 98 million google search results, its very competitive as there are literally thousands of "Times" related sites out there on the internet. One thing for sure is, they are a company that really get it!

I must say that I'm not surprised by this at all.

India is becoming a major economic power in the world and they're really very good in quite a lot of industries that are closely related to dotTV, that is IT, media, entertainement, cinema, etc.

I would expect to see a lot more great things from India in the dotTV world in the years to come.
