At this point, it looks like Blu Ray is in the lead.

The "battle" isn't over, but I would say now's not a good time. Wait a bit as I'm sure those behind HD-DVD realize this and will try to up the ante.

The Blu-Ray/HD-DVD battle is set to drag on for another year at least.
By next holiday season we should see $200 HD players, $300 BD players, and a $500 combo unit from Samsung.
