I have a three letter, last two are the same letter .com name. I have recently received two offers to buy it (and some in the past that were ridiculous).

I am definately interested in selling it. Any ideas what it may be worth?

Thanks!

15K easy for a reseller but could sell for low $$$,$$$ to the right end user if you are prepared to wait.
If you are in selling mood why not ask Sedo to put it up on auction for the exposure.

Nav.no sold for that amount!?. I would understand if it was for 700,000,- NOK but not USD, as I cant belive that. Nav is a soscial site from the norwegian gouvernment helping people getting employed and also paying out money for those who dont work anymore or has injuries etc. Their previous name was Aetat.

Another thing is that you can't compare enduser sales / different extentions!.
Im not saying that it isnt possible to get the amount mentioned for this one, but to reach such an amount you really need to have a huge enduser thats really, reaally interested.

Interesting...
I didn't say it will surely sell for that amount. If the seller find a proper end-user, the name would go for a nice amount.

NAV.NO Sold for 4.375 Million Norwegian Kroner, approximately $717,978 (Source: http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2006/ytd-sales-charts-2006.htm)

Hope this would help. :)

Nice name but...

bss.com is a handy domain name; should be worth a bit. Question is, when you gave up your directorship at bssaudio, how come the name went with you and not stay as intellectual property of the group? Was it agreed upon? Won't they challenge the sale of the domain name? Whichever, best of luck.

Thanks for all your help -- especially the bit about finding an end user - that would be my ultimate goal. The guy with the 1500 -- hello? lol!

I got this years ago quite legally from Bell South Services, paid in full. They had the domain name I needed, and they were sitting on it doing nothing. Don't I wish I had bought some of the other ones they were sitting on.. oy vay! It took forever, but it was well worth it. I sold a lot of t-shirts on there. LOL

Now I'm looking to put my baby through college. I will contact those possible end users and gauge their interest... I have an $18,000 offer sitting on the table right now, but I am thinking more. Tell me -- is your opinion as mine is that as time goes on, these just continue to rise in value, or do you think it might level out and possibly diminish? Thanks for your honest opinions.

IMO it is a wise decision. If you don't need the money wait for the right offer.
18K right now is a decent offer but reseller price.
Perhaps you could contact Sedo so they can list it in the next auction (good exposure)...
3-letter .com domains have increased a lot in value over a few years and I don't see the trend reversing... they are getting more expensive every year.
I am not even selling mine at the moment. Maybe when I decide to retire in a few years :)

Auction indeed

No doubt about it. Take it to a professional domain live auction. And stick to the price you have in mind. Remember to do proper webpr before it goes into auction to drive up traffic even more. Those few dollars spent could be worth multiple returns. Again, best wishes with it.

Because the last two letters are the same I would appraise it atleast 10k.

Good Luck.

Thanks.

$18,000 is not a bad offer. especially if you can negotiate and get a little bit more.
You can get mid $xx,xxx, but you might need to wait.

You won't sell it for more than $18K here
It's more than the reseller price, so don't put it on auction, see if you can get a little from him and sell.

Hi,

Assuming the purpose of selling this domain is to fund your baby's college education fund. I'd assume that from now until college, there's another 17 years?

Now assume you sell this domain for $25,000 today, where would you invest this money? And what is the growth rate per year? 12%? At 12% a year compounded will end up with about $172,000 after 17 years.

Now with the help of the wise and pro-domaineers here, you'd be able to come up with an estimate value of bss.com after 17 years. Compare the values. Of course if you sell at year 17 you might sell at a discount since you need the cash more urgently. However, if you sell at year 16, you'd have 1 year to filter and find a generous buyer.

Work out this calculation and you'll see if you should sell it or not.

haha, no, sorry to be misleading, my 'baby' is actually in his freshman year at college. And no, there is not any real NEED to sell, so I am not desperate. Just investigating the options.

Had an appraisal at sedo that came in at $9000. Have to say I was a bit disappointed in that, seeing how they sold jmm.com 2 years ago for $55,000 but that wasn't mentioned anywhere in the appraisal, nor calculated. I can understand that it all depends on your buyer's needs but...

What about ebay? Is there a way to really promote an ebay auction to get a good retail price? The fees would be a lot less.

Thanks for any of your help.

Put it up for sale here and at DNF. You don't have to sell it, just get an idea of the kind of offers you can get for it. 20k is easy for this name, trust me.

Thanks, maybe I'll try that .
