Hi everyone

This looks like a good community to get some non-biased 3rd party input (tm), so after checking out a few other sites I decided to register and ask for comments on my new site:

http://karaokedvd.net

A few notes:
- The site only has the main page, item description, and "thumb viewer" pages done.
- It's meant to replace www.nutechdvd.com
- What do you think of the graphics, layout, etc?
- Any input or creative ideas greatly appreciated!
- Edit: oh yeah, the logo and a lot of the text are just placeholders for now, but you get the idea, right?

I did all the graphics in Fireworks 2004 mx, and the ASP coding in Editplus.

TIA!
Mello88

Hi mello88,

Nice layout, good tables, asp good choice for video site. (will way out preform php for this application)

Your page load time at 56k, is 1 minute 16 seconds.

If you kill the banner it goes down to 31 seconds

kill the windows media pic at the bottom 29 seconds

kill half of your top sellers pics and do some extreme optimizing the gifs - and you will be within marketing range

If this is just the shopping cart ok, but if you plan on running the site this way, think about a home page and some pages for search engine placement.
(asp pages that are not dynamically linked so you can get so archor links for SEO).

If you just got to do it as the default page -at least think about meta tags in your header, or headers - even better.

Link your categories to a static page and fill get your head, body etc (fill it with the db links from there), Search engines don't like telling customers to go somewhere if the content is going to change.

Like it good start

I'm liking this. The only con i noticed was that the navigation in the header (both the bar and all the links) seem to have a different border than all the content boxes (or whatever you wanna call them). It strikes me as a little off, but it could just be personal opinion.

On another note: If you can spare the space (which I guess you can't according to pinkfluffybunny :| ) it might be cool to add weak shadows to the content boxes.

Once again, very nice!

Adam is looking for a few clicks on his ads -

Dweebs that surf the boards looking for a reason to post so they can post their click sites annoy me. Like these in yours Adam_UK

took almost 45 seconds to load over dialup, and there seem to be some display problems using opera (see attached file). also, you might consider making the logo slightly larger.

Thank you all for your replies! I'll defnitely use this forum in the future to screen potential designs.

Thank you viciouscircle for the Opera screen shot! I'll see if I can get that problem solved (has to do with td background tiling... hrmm)

I would take the underline out of the links within the tabs up top.

Like everyone said the logo is very tiny, and rather difficult to read.

Other than that nice job. What shopping cart software is powering your website?

Yeah I went back and forth with the underline on the tabs... I might still take it off. How are you doing tabs/buttons? I have the classic 3 td with 2 "endcap" images and a center tiling background for dynamic size. This is the same exact manner i build my "boxes" in... But I'm not sure if there is a better way to do it, that shows up well in all browsers?

The site is powered by Icode's Everest Enterprise. I am a customization consultant, offering custom software development services to those business who have chosen to implement it. Check out www.icode.com for more info.

The logo is a temp. I don't know what they'll end up using, since this is a new direction and face for the business.

Thanks for the input ;)
