With the latest fast DNA sequencing technologies, the medicine is going deeply personal in near future: from a multi-yesar "human genome project" we are going with amazing speed to the reality of affordable sequencing of individual genomes. This will dramatically transform the medicine in just a few years. For example, the leading technology of the deep sequencing is known as "454" and the domains describing the above idea - my454.com , mydna.com etc will be getting more attention soon. I think there are still plenty of good names in this area. At the time of writing, mydnarepair.com is still not registered.

I've held onto Microcloning.com for a few years for a similar reason. Who knows what technologies or terms will be well-known 5 or 10 years from now?

I've held GenomicMedication / com for a few years now.....and counting. This is one area of tech that is evolving fast also. Genetic sequencing will play a major role in medication and in science in the near future including how medicines are made and prescribed. Another one I'm holding is WiFiPacemaker / com (hyphen still available to register as of edit) when this tech news recently surfaced. http://in.reuters.com/article/idINTRE5790AK20090810

Thats the problem with domains, its basically internet real-estate. In the real world, you have no idea whether or not a suburb will become popular, but you hold onto it, just in case it does. And I'm sure this is all the same. Good luck with your Genome based domains guys.

With names like this, I find it best to only register the ones you're willing to commit to a 5 year registry, right off the bat. That way, when its costing you $40 per rather than $8 per, you're far more likely to shoot for genuine quality, avoid swaths of pointless impulse registries in addition to cutting down on the chance that you will lose faith in your registry (long after the "excitement" of the initial idea has worn off) and let it drop too early...

If you take an investing perspective on speculative domains, then figure out what time period you expect your investment to come across (next year? 3 years? 5 years? 7 years?), and register the name for that. Make that investment. Registering a bunch of speculative crap a year at a time- only to let it drop once you realize what an enormous mistake you made- is what keeps Bob Parsons rich and you poor.

Not commenting on the field proposed by the OP- I know nothing about that- but I know plenty about garbage speculative registrations that amount to lighting money on fire. I've taken a few trips in that failboat myself.

No doubt that human genome project would be very helpful in future. But we can skip from the fact that it may be dangerous in some cases especially for the antisocial elements.

I have no doubt that this is quickly going to become mainstream science and technology.

I have had a couple names reg'd for a couple years now that I think woudl suit any biotech or genetics company very well.

GeneticallyImproved.com and Genprove.com for a shorter, more brandable name.
