Google doesn't know if a site is based in the US or not without an extension?? Hosting IP tells it all! ...

OK I know that's not what you mean, you're saying that Google uses the CC extension to determine which countries should get which domain names served up in search.

First of all, it doesn't matter what extension it is. How can you monetize a TM protected name without getting into trouble? If someone were to buy this domain with the intent of making money by selling T-shirts, or even just Adsense placement would be a no-no. I'm not familiar with how AMC handles fan sites for their shows, that would have to be looked at very carefully first.

Hate to break it to you, but "Local SEO" means a lot more local than by country ... more like by neighborhood.

NNN.com is waaay more rare than NNNNNNNN.us, and have their value based on many factors outside of keyword search volume.

As far as SEO value, sure the high volume keyword.us would pull it's weight, but it would still need the same promotion to get it going like any other site. I will not explain why because
