Sorry if this was posted already but I couldn't seem to find it anywhere. I had a domain registered with Rackshack (later became The Planet) when they used to sell domains for $6.49. I just got this e-mail today:

Important information about your domain registration
We appreciate your domain registration business, and hope you have been pleased with our service. Periodically we review our pricing structure, including our costs to provide service, and make price adjustments.
Effective Monday, October 19, 2009, the following new pricing will be in effect for all domain renewals and new registrations:
• .COM, .ORG, .NET, .BIZ, .US, .INFO Domains: $8.95/year
These prices are highly competitive, and allow us to continue to provide you with the best possible service. We hope to have the opportunity to serve your domain needs for many years to come.

It was nice while it lasted :'(.

Anyone else remember this or still had a domain at $6.49 like I did?

Honestly I didn't even know Rackshack sold domain registrations. Did you say Rackshack and ThePlanet are now one? When did that happen?

The merge happened a little over 3 years ago - May 6th, 2006, I believe.

Although, correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't Rackshack called ev1servers at the time of the merge? :) (I.e. Rackshack renamed to ev1servers, then later merged with the planet)?

Yes, they were called ev1servers as well. They sure do like merging lol!

Yeah, their first name was Rackshack. I even bought Rockshack (.com and .net), but months later they renamed into EV1Servers.net. lol
