Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd pop by and introduce myself, I joined back in 2015 and never came back again (my bad).
but I want to start getting a little more involved with domains as it's been a hobby of mine for a number of years now, but I just buy and hold onto them, as I think I'll create a business on top of them someday.

A majority of my domains are keyword + area .co.uk domains, I have two local lead generation websites on two of them and they make a nice little profit each month.

The best opportunity I had with a domain was last year when a domain broker reached out to me for a casino.com related domain, but they never followed through with it.

but I still own it and it's valued at $1,500. So how reliable are tools like GoDaddy's domain value tool?

Anyway, I'll be in and out of threads as I have a lot to learn. So nice to meet you guys and no doubt I'll have more questions.

Carl

Hi @Cashfield / Carl .. and welcome (back) to NamePros! :)

Collecting domains "with intentions of building them out" is how a large number of us got into domaining. Good on you for actually getting a couple sites up. That's a couple more than most! lol

As for automated appraisals and valuations. They are semi-useful tool on the macro level. But almost completely useless when looking at individual domains (although depends on the domain). In general however, never use them and never rely on them .. often they aren't even remotely close. Most GoDaddy domains with $1500 valuation are garbage .. and a few can be worth far more. There are TONS of discussions all over NamePros on the subject .. use the search function and you'll get tons more details.

Anyhow .. best of luck to you going forward! :)

Hi there,

Its useful if you want to show its value to a prospective end user with little knowledge in domain valuations. But its far from perfect.

Cheers

Hello!

There are many threads on NamePros that should continue to be of interest to you as you " return " to a more active NamePros experience.

Sounds like you have done some nice sites that provide a bit of a cash flow, that's great!

I, personally, seldom refer to and do not rely on " auto " valuations of domain name valuations.

Welcome to NamePros!
