Very pronounceable CVCV top the list of non-word LLLL.coms which fetch the most.

VCVC really depend on the letters, unlike AABB and Triple Letters which have a fairly large value (~$500+ for triple repeats/AABB) regardless of letter quality.

On the pronounceable front, you're looking at (in general): CVCV > VCVC > CVVC > VCCV.

With rares, you're looking at (again, on average): AABB > Triple Repeat > ABAB > VVVV > Triple Non-Repeat.


If I had to average it out across all LLLL's, I'd say it goes as follows: CVCV > AABB > Triple Repeat > ABAB > VCVC > VVVV. CVVC/VCCV depend heavily on the letters and pronounceability.

I've wondered too about setting starting bids lower - like .99 - to get more bidders involved. It's a risk but I wonder if statistically, on average, they would fetch more. I think there's something, psychologically, about not wanting to "lose" an auction once you've entered it. Might squeak higher bids out of some.

Course it's easy enough for me to speculate with someone else's profits on the line.

Once I get my act together and get all my recent purchases accounted for on paper, I'll be "testing the waters" as well.

Try it, you'll like it ... (try it with one, see how it goes). But auctions are always hit or miss - you just hope that a few hits will more than balance out the misses. And if they don't - then just have to wait for the market to heat up a bit, or move over to fixed price sales (and again, have to wait for people to meet your asking price) ...

One "hedging" technique that worked for me to some extent for LLLL.com auctions on eBay was to place decent (but not high) bids in other auctions on the same days my pieces were out there. So if it was a slow day for bids and my own LLLL.com went cheap - sometimes I'd get a consolation prize of picking up another name at a decent price to replace it. (Minus PayPal and eBay fees of course).
