Now, I'm not a big fan of hyphens, but seeing as the min price for L-L.com is now at about 30% of LLL.com, eventually the L-L.ca should have value too..

* No guarantees, register at your own risk :)

A small countdown, but post your predictions, when will they be gone?

Depends on how much hype happens on the different forums IMO, just like the other buyouts :)

Considering how many people can't reg .ca names, it'll take a good couple of months, unless someone does a big buyout.

They will all be gone April 6/08, I should put that available list up on l-l.ca maybe they would sell out quicker with a little promotion.

Thanks for posting the list. :)

I for one am surprised to see so much action on these. Most are a sit and wait investment. Good deals can still be found on LLL.ca's - the vast majority of which are not developed and just parked. Although, most L-L.com's are in use. That's my opinion on L-L.ca's and I could be missing the boat... only time will tell!

Agreed, if they didn't have those stupid restrictions of just people in Canada being able to reg, they'd be long gone.

I grabbed a handful of premium L-L.ca's back in mid 07, no plans to register anymore but I do see overall potential as many of the .com counterparts are being used by end users as acronym's for their company names.

I'd say if you missed the LLL.ca boat, jump on these.

The restrictions are anything but "stupid". They give the namespace a sense of identity and proof of ownership. When I as a Canadian shop on the net I am far more likely to spend my money on a .ca website than most others because I know that I most likely dealing with a Canadian. This gives me much more legal recourse and peace of mind. Canadians are huge online shoppers - to do away with the restrictions would completely dilute the trust Canadians have in dot ca.

I would never in a million years want the namespace opened up. It would only benefit domain name resellers and nobody else. It would harm all those doing business on a .ca and that monetary value dwarfs the reseller market by a very large margin. In 2005 Canadians spent nearly $8 billion online - that number is growing by 30%+ every year.

it hasn't done .co.uk and .de any harm :sold:

the two most popular cctlds and dare i say prosperous online societies in europe.
consumers in uk and germany are incredibly web savvy and have high expectations.

i understand what you kind of mean. but if a scammer wants to scam, by their nature thay can easy reg a a .ca, and give a false address, plus i doubt the public are aware that only .ca can be regged by canadians

i'm surprised you really think you dont want it opened up as it would help values of .ca's
after all canada has a very small population

It helps resellers yes - when opening it up. But it hurts others doing commercial business on the domain space. I would like to believe that the major corporations doing business in Canada have wisely looked over their marketing/advertising projections when buying .ca domains. They know Canadians identify with their own cctld and that's why they so readily use it in this market. The trust factor is there in spades in this country.

The biggest users of .ca domains for 'outside the box' uses are the car companies. I couldn't even count all the different .ca domains they are using for their products. They use them for short-term marketing campaigns, promotions and contests. Car companies are usually pretty good at being early-adapters to a market and this correlates directly to their ready uptake of the .ca domain for this market.

I also have never seen any hard numbers but I would surmise most Canadians if asked would say a .ca is for Canadians only. As time goes by that number of course would only get higher.

Keep it closed - and besides - the .ca is bringing better and better prices each month without having it opened up. Sure it's slower than it would be otherwise, but the potential benefit does not outweigh the risks imo. I'd rather earn less on reselling and earn more on development, as that's where the real money is anyways.

I think the L-L are great cause you they have many different uses - it's just 2 letters so there may be hundreds of absolutely different uses for each of them, and this increase your chance to find end user or develop it the way you want.

Btw, can someone post an update of remaining L-L?
