Anyone see any point in regging domains in .net like

the[keyword].net

ie:
thehotel.net (The Hotel Network)
thecar.net (The Car Network)
theadvice.net (The Advice Network)

etc etc...

I noticed BuyDomains has loads of them, does anyone agree that these have some decent value?

Cheers

I'll take this thecar.com (The Car Community) over thecar.net anyday. :hehe:

No inherent value unless developed IMHO.

Thanks, just trying to focus on the[keyword].net domains at the moment - any other opinions?

I have a couple the[word(s)].com domains which I like a lot ... eg. theGlobality.com , theMegaSite.com , etc ... but I don't think the[keyword].net are very valuable (unless maybe developed) ... one reason being that "the" is usually used to convey quality and uniqueness ... eg. a car (any car) ... in comparison with ... the car ... and .net seems secondary to .com for this aspect and therefore kind of losing "its edge" as a "the"-domain ...

kind of related , here is a link to a $6.6M-sales-per-year company that recently bought some domains ... between them (and the only mentioned in the article) , Therapists.net (a [keyword].net domain , therefore they were interested in buying .nets) and theDirectory.com (a the[keyword].com domain) ... of course , that does not really prove much , but the domains mentioned were kind of related with the thread ...

I think that the vast majority of the(keywords).com domains are pretty much worthless for resale, of course there will always be exceptions.

Just Today there are 872 the(keywords).com domains expiring/ or getting dropped at snapnames, while some will be words that contain the first part for example themalgamezone - most of them are like

theadultspider.com

theartsycafe.com

thebeautygarden.com

thecastingpros.com ......and on and on !

if you change that to dropping anytime - it shows 9018

My opinion is they are a loooooooooooooong shot !

edit > I just noticed you were asking about .net - I think this would be far far worse IMO

Wow.. interesting, cool thanks for that.

I was just thinking the .net would be better as a domain hack, looking at the .net as "Network" - but looks like I'm wrong here, .com always wins in the end !

Thanks
