Maybe for you everything is new, because you are (ahem) new, but for us History keeps repeating itself. We have been seeing the exact same stuff for at least 10 years.

BTW it's not that I don't believe in new extensions, I believe in sales. Why should I believe in new extensions, when the end users don't ? Ponder this for a while.

I'm slightly confused.. Did or didn't the sale take place? Why wasn't money exchanged?

just a stunt for lure poor suckers...
who acutally belive that they can make money with .live

Newbies vastly overestimate the demand for aftermarket domains. It's already hard enough to sell good .com. At least don't make life more difficult than it should be.
Talking about the future is good, but it's the present that matters the most. To put it differently: achievements have to take place now, or they never will.

New gTLD sales: Sex.Live: $160.000 / Porn.Live: $120.000

The 5$ logo on both sites makes me question the validity of this sales report.

Valid or not: maybe for you is important but for me and above all for the market is not important.
Time will tell...

Maybe they spent all their money on these "super premium" domains and had none left for the logo? Isn't it strange how they both point to the same white label, and how they both have a 1$ logo? But they spent 280.000$ on these 2 "super premium" domain names?

We are in a different era now I think: We have 2000 new gTLDs...
No. The collective value of new extensions is diluted, because there are so many. In the past, new extensions were seldom released, and most of the time it was one by one. So they were a bit special but still not desirable.
Now the supply has increased exponentially, but they are still not desirable.
And when you have more choice, you have less incentive to pay a premium price for a given domain name.

I see new sites all the time, only a matter of time before there's a massive popular website that everyone has heard of using a new gTLD.

New site about to launch.. spring.xyz ;)

Domain sold for 6K btw, not mine but a decent sale!

Those that think no aftermarket sales are taking place by domainers need to look around. There have been many sales by domainers, whether it's a private sale, auction or etc.. Is it where we want it to be, NO but it's so early with new g's and this will take time. That's just common sense.

Define many sales?

There's around 23.3 million gTLD domains registered as of today compared to around 125 million registered .com domains. So statistically, if the gTLDs were to perform as good as .com, then for every 5 reported (domainer) .com sales there should be 1 reported (domainer) gTLD sale. However if you regularly look at the weekly domain sales at dnjournal and filter out the irrelevant gTLD registry sales then you usually see extremely few gTLD sales, if any at all. Actually to take this one step further there are still more .org, .net and .tv sales happening then gTLD sales right now so even those weaker extensions (compared to .com) are still a much better bet than the gTLDs. And I'm pretty sure almost nobody here will advice to invest all your money in .net, .org or .tv. Yet some people are investing all what they have in gTLDs right now.

And while the "it will take time" argument may have been a decent argument 2.5 years ago it's starting to lose credibility now.

The future will be good for good new gTLDs.

If you believe these sales were real, you are extremely gullible

$280K is not so big money even for medium Adult-company...

the future will be good perhaps..for the registries! the registry is the domainer of new gtlds. they keep the best names, make people pay premiums, premium renewals, etc.

the registries will always make the best sales with new gtlds.

When I purchaed Porna.live, the sex.live, Porn.live and Porno.live were reserved. They were not for sale! So therefore, these two are more likely a legit purchased.
Porn.com VS Porn.live which one is more appealing; and not sounds dead.
.live extension is so perfect for this kind of business nature. It's like 360 degrees gravities. Yes, it's kind of cheap purchased; knowingly that this kind of business makes tons of profits! Just an opinion and I'm not claiming to be expert on everything, including domain names business etc..

1. Ultra premium keywords like that are selling for high prices in almost any extension.
2. This was a registry sale. No domainers are making these kind of sales with the new gTLDs, only (some) registries are. Time will tell if this will ever change but right now the future does not look brighter simply because some registry sold 2 adult gTLD domains for a high price.

Amen, brother. There's a difference between rampant unrealistic optimism and reality. I don't see how any student of the domain industry can ever get excited about new tld's....

To be fair I was not guessing. All that info is taken from what your have made public. Although earning per month, was estimated by another member on the basis of your year to date earnings. If I remember correctly you mentioned you had a wife carrying some of the living costs?
  • A car here is often 2-3 more expensive than in the US and in Europe.
  • Electricity is often more expensive here than is the US and Europe.
  • Internet is often more expensive here than in the US and Europe.
  • Imported foods and drinks are often more expensive here than in the US and Europe.
  • Memberships at good gyms / fitness centers are often more expensive here than in US and Europe.
  • Electronics and computers are often more expensive than in US and in Europe.
  • Motorbikes 250 cc + are often more expensive than in the US and in Europe.
Cheap or rather cheap in Thailand:
  • Local food and beer
  • Accommodation
  • Non-brand clothing
  • Traveling with bus and some flights
  • Scooters / motorbikes with small engines
It's kind of funny when people presupposes that all expats in Thailand live in huts, rents a scooter, drinks local beer and eat mostly rice and chicken.

I see them too, just browsing the internet as usual in my work and in my spare time. Ok, you and me are gTLD speculators, but it can not only be us who have noticed this phenomenon. :-P

360Berlin.net = 360.Berlin
Who is better: 360.Berlin or 360Berlin.net?
Who is better: 360.Berlin or 360Berlin.com?
No match for me: the winner is 360.Berlin
P.S. personally I have 360......... .coms in my portfoglio: I don't hate .coms, but 360.Berlin is the better one for me. :-, Can you forget a domain like 360.Berlin??? I think not. ;)
I repeat: the future will be good for good new gTLDs. :-D
