Hi, because I will be buying a lot of domains soon I'm looking to save on registration costs. I still like to have a decent control panel where I can change the settings of my domains though.

What are some of the best cheap registars out there?

Please share, all input welcome

I wish there was a CPanel for domain registrars - that worked like you'd expect it to. Unfortunately most seem to use their own system, and most aren't very intuitive to use.

The best tend to belong to places that charge $50/yr for a .com.

GoDaddy have been steadily improving over the years and their latest that rolled out recently isn't too bad.

NameCheap is quaint but odd.

Ultimately, choose the registrar that has the best prices & services that you need, as well as being trustworthy, and just get used to their system.

I use namecheap now and like it a lot, but I'm really looking for a cheaper alternative. Since I will be registering a lot. So I want to save on reg cost.

Also, I would like doing a push to be free with registration period being pusghed along with the domain, does namecheap do this for free? Anyone know?

One cheap registrar I found is internetbs.net, anyone experience with them?

pretty much all registrars push for free, and the registration period stays the same.

Internet.bs is a decent option, and Namesilo is as well. Both have bulk options for cheaper pricing.

Internet.bs is a spammers/fraudsters registrar. I wouldn't use them. Personally, I used to like GoDaddy best, and they're cheap with all the codes, but for me, their latest rollout of their Control Panel isn't intuitive at all. I've pretty much gone from loving it to hating it, overnight. Also personally, I think NameCheap's parent registrar eNom also has an excellent Control Panel, especially their Magic Folders. You can probably get a reseller account with one of their resellers in the $9.50 range. Also, I think NameSilo has a pretty good offering, providing everything for free, although I haven't used them much. But I personally use Dynadot. There was a bit of a learning curve for a few days, but it does everything and more of what I want, without the bloat of GoDaddy.

When you say you are going to buy a lot of domains soon, how much is a lot 100? 1000? 10000? If we know that we might be able to tailor our suggestions a bit. For example, Dynadot can give you $8.75 (+ $2 privacy, if wanted) if you spend only $500/year and $8.50 (+ free privacy) if you spend only $5000/year.

The beauty about GoDaddy is that everyone has heard of them and most already have an account there, making sales/pushes relatively painless.

Thanks for warning me about internet.bs, it's funny to me it reads as internet.bullshit :yell:.

Anyway About your above comment: does the same also hold true for NameCheap, maybe in a bit lesser regards?
I understand that advantage of GoDaddy, but I don't like their bloated interface and them bothering me with upsells at every step.

About the volume, yea say $500 in domain registers a year would be the range.

I would recommend iwantmyname. Super simple interface and a great company overall.

Full disclosure: I work for iwantmyname. I've been in the domain industry for years and fell in love with their way of running a registrar and business. So I got a job there! If you have any questions or feedback, I encourage you to PM me.

If you're looking for simplicity then my vote would go to either DynaDot or NameSilo..Both accept multiple payment methods, both have API's that you get access to. Both are very simple and easy to use and neither tries to upsell you on anything during checkout..etc.

I like NameCheap CP also, but GoDaddy is way the biggest registrar. NameCheap have fair prices but not cheap prices. GoDaddy is probably about 20 times bigger than NameCheap.

with a $500 annual budget I'd go with Dynadot. From the moment you add the $500 to your account you get the $8.75 .com pricing. I think it's better to add the funds up front than to accumulate a total spending of $500 because you are saving $1.24 per domain. Be prepared for a short learning curve with their control panel, but once learned it is very flexible. They listen to suggested improvements also.

But if privacy is important to you, I'd choose NameSilo. I don't have a lot of experiences with NameSilo, but they know what is important to domainers and offer it all for free. They are a relatively small registrar however.

Hey guys, just found this other domain company: onlydomains.com

Their pricing is pretty good also, .com is $ 8.99 and their interface looks good from my first impression.

Any thought on that one? Anyone have experience there?

Looks like a pretty good deal with a nice dashboard.

I used them last year for some ccTLDs I had. It was my worst technical support experience since I started buying domains. Some guys (or maybe just one?) in New Zealand working strictly on local NZ time and definitely not during weekends. Instead of answering my questions they (he?) sent standard emails that did not address my queries at all (a lot like eBay and PayPal). When I alerted them to this fact, they got very offended but just continued sending the standard emails. I had to contact the sales department to get them to talk to them (him?) to actually read my email and answer my question.

Later, when I sold a domain and wanted to do a free push, I had to sign a form and submit to them to be processed during their working hours. Hee hee - and then the submitted form (a one page pdf file) was rejected by their servers as being too large. Can you imagine? It's in their procedures that you have to hand sign a form to complete a free push and then their servers cannot receive a one page pdf?

And the email informing me about the rejected file did not arrive until hours later - after I had gone to sleep European time - so I had to try again the next day with a zip file.

Then, when they finally got working on it they returned to me and said that they had changed their internal transfer procedure recently and now I had to fill in another form instead...

I think this procedure took three days from start to finish. Luckily I started on a Tuesday so we managed just in time before the weekend, at which time nobody would be working in New Zealand. Naturally, the buyer wasn't too happy and wondered why he never received the domain.

Good luck with using them as basis for any serious domaining business :)
