The best backorder-er?

Hey,

I am looking to backorder some names, about 5.

I would immagine they are going to be trying to be grabbed by more people than just myself.

So, How smart (or should I say, how dumb) is it for me to try and do it myself? (I don't have a backorder script)

Or,

What (Who) is your favourite site or person to get dropping names? I am not rich, so I don't want to spend a boatload, and I also don't want to pay unless I get the names.

I'm looking to do it with GoDaddy.com now, but how do I get refunded if they manage not to catch the name?

Any insight is great!

Thanks,

Ryan

GoDaddy will give you a backorder credit if it is unable to catch a domain.

All backorder services only charge you if successful, so you should consider using them all. Pool, SnapNames, and ClubDrop are the primary ones.

I have used Pool and SnapNames for other services berfore, and liked them quite a bit, but never ClubDrop. I also thought it would just be easier doing it through a registar I use often.

If there any one drop catcher that tends to perform better than another?

Thanks, and rep + asianinvasion,

Ryan

just backorder it at pool and snapnames and that should prob do it, they are the two big dropcatchers

Pool & Enom (clubdrop) used to be good but today snapnames is the most powerful. Godaddy is good for .us, other than that it's a waste of time usually.
It costs nothing to backorder with Enom, Pool & Snap. They charge you only if they get the name and in case of multiple claims the auction winner pays :)

It also depends on where the names are registered.
For example if the domain is with network solutions it will be first sent to snapnames. If no-one bites then the name will be dropped and possibly grabbed later. Snapnames have priority agreements with several registrars.

I would check to see what registrar the domains were registered with first.

Most registrars have deals made with back ordering companies.

Also I would not use godaddy.com unless the domain name is registered with them.

you should not try that do self,
you can try it, but the only what you get is experience ;)

All domains that are registered with GoDaddy go to TDNAM auction regardless of whether you have a backorder or not. So for all intents and purposes, GoDaddy backorder is fairly useless.

Just setup an account with pool, snapnames and clubdrop and backorder it on all 3.. Or if it is at GD, get a membership to TDNAM and be ready to bid on it.

If it is with Wild West, will it still go to TDNAM?

Thanks all for your help!

Doh! That is exactly what I didn't want to hear! I was hoping that by being a WW reseller, it wouldn't TDNAM.

Well, Thank you to all, going to go up the thread to add rep, thanks again.

Ryan

[EDIT]: Alright, repped everyone, thanks again, thread 'resolved'

Well, not totally useless. These non-GoDaddy names were picked up using GoDaddy and Blue Razor backorders:

Strong.us
Lucky.us
Dart.us
Gems.us
Fab.us
Acme.us

So the lucky winners paid as little as $12.99 per name, all the way up to a whopping $18.99 per name.

IMHO at least two of those names are worth $x,xxx. And one of them may be closer to $xx,xxx.
