okay well I have a site www.bumrecords.net and it looks fine on my computer but on other computers it doesnt look fine. For example if you view this page www.bumrecords.net/artists.html it stretches the tables and breaks up the images if you dont have your font set on smallest. How do I fix it so that no matter what the text stays the same size

i dont think that's a matter of your font size.
if you are using table, the texts in the left colum wont affect the pics in the right

WARNING:
Not sure is this will work but try adding this to the CSS:
you will need to adjust which size font you use.

{ COLOR: #000000; FONT: 11px verdana, Trebuchet MS, arial, sans-serif }

shadow_boi is correct -- the font size is not your problem. The problem is that your two columns are not independent of each other. The more text you place in the first column, the more the graphics will separate in the second column.

sorry I never checked back lol, I fixed the font problem but how do I get the colums to be independant?

I guess I missed all the action since your site looks fine now. But to answer your question about making columns independant....

I advise not using tables, but using <DIV> sections instead. They are naturally independent and controlled nicely via style sheets. They are also easier to read and understand IMO.

oh, well if you are using software you should probably work with what it gives you unless you want to move over completely to coding by hand.
