TDNAM auctions getting longer

I thought that the auctions at TDNAM were 9 or 10 days but now I see some of them going for 16+

Definitely - I saw that too. I put one in my watch list and then it jumped to 17 days.

Things are changing all around us really fast now it seems.

Looks like they may be going back to the default 10 days. I don't see any sign of new names in the last 4 days. I quite liked the 17 day auction idea. It allows you to see a greater range of domains to choose from.

Has anyone ever had good luck using them? When I first got into domaining, I tried them, and was sorely disappointed.

IMO, with longer auctions, you will see more domains get reclaimed back, which is never fun. You get all excited about a domain at auction, then it's gone.

As with everything, there are the goods and bads with the longer auctions.

Good's
More time to look deep into the domain
Gives you more time to save up money if you really want it. lol
Gives you something to check everyday. lol

Bad's
More time for others to find the domain
More domains in your Watch Folder
etc

I'm sure there are a lot more you could list for each, but oh well.

I hope they do end the extended auctions. I prefer the shorter term, less wait, and less competition. The only advantage I saw was for GoDaddy to try and make a few extra dollars.
