This may be a misplaced thread, but I'd like to get a general idea of who will be attending the 2007 TRAFFIC conference, March 5-8, at the Venetian in Vegas.

I'm considering making the trip and would appreciate tales/advice of previous attendees on a) the show in general, b) whether the registration fee is well spent, c) whether connections made have been long-lasting and fruitful, and d) whether taking a general trip to Vegas without registering for the show can still yield interesting conversations/input from fellow domainers.

Thanks in advance for your responses,

Moniker says its going to be the largest domain auction ever anyone knows exactly what that means?

This is a question born of ignorance, but is the Auction distinct from the TRAFFIC conference or are they one and the same? In other words, must one register for the conference in order to attend the auction?

Also, JRB, how was the show last year?

Thanks for the replies,
be

It is expensive to attend the event, much less to travel there. This cost serves as a barrier to entry and the benefit is that you will meet extremely successful & interesting people that you would normally not have the privilege of carrying a conversation with. If you don't have anything interesting to bring to the table, then it will be harder for you to strike up conversations that lead anywhere in the future. The event is "networking at its best". I think attendance is a good idea if you have an interesting use for the Internet which you employ to your advantage, and you want to network & develop friendships with other like minded web entrepreneurs.

Thanks too, Bill ... how much does it cost to attend the event, and how many folks, do you figure, attended the last one (T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East) IYHO? :$: :gl:
Appreciate any insight.

What does it cost to submit a domain for auction? You don't have pay the attendance fee for that right?

No, you don't have to attend in order to sell: Moniker will broker your name at 15% and either place it in the live or silent auction depending on the perceived quality.

So, at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East, for instance, some # of attendees paid x $1,795/each?
Was there additional auction fees for domains that transacted there, as well? :gl: :talk:

Thanks for the info be9999.

Yes you're right RocketFly,here i like to add a bit more

"We encourage you to put any names you want to sell on TrafficClub.com as you will sell more names since the traffic and revenue stats will be integrated into the live auction view for informational purposes. Also, names should be at Moniker.com as the registrar so that change of ownership happens immediately rather than waiting for names to transfer to escrow.
Please let me know if you have any questions."

At bare minimum (to sell at TRAFFIC 2007), I think you need to create a new account (https://www.moniker.com/newaccount.jsp).

Not sure if you can submit them in time as the list is due this Friday.

PM me if you want me to forward your name to my Moniker rep.

In my Moniker account, my domains are listed as "Suggest for Auction", but I have not been sent any forms to sign. Does this mean that my names are being considered for the T.R.A.F.F.I.C auction. I thought I would have been sent a form to sign just like their last Adult auction. Has anyone else got something to sign from Moniker?
