Hi Everyone

First of all, sorry for my english. Quite long time ago, since I had to use it... :).

I am new to domain market. I had the idea, since the new TLD came out... And yes, I am sure all my new domains (only approx. 30 domains) are just crap.. :) well, all beginners have to pay apprentice's due.

I got mostly new TLDs but also some others... Mainly I am checking out some market trend, new IT trends etc. and check if there is an domain available. So mainly the last month i had a bunch full of ideas and checked like 20 times per day the availability :).

And no, I did not quit my job to work as a domain dealer :). It is not my goal to "make money"... if its happens its quite ok. if not... well :). More a hobby. And beside my daughter (9 months old) and my dog it is quite a good hobby... :)

Well... what else do you want to know?... just let me know.

Best from Switzerland

Welcome aboard!

Don't start off by investing in these new extensions. They're too risky and too expensive. Also, the domain industry is full of propaganda and wishful thinking when it comes to these nTLDs. I'm buying some myself, but I'm still more interested in established extensions. And, to some extent, I've learned what can work from experience selling other kinds of domains. These new extensions are NOT where a person should start. You'll have to wait too long to get sales. And without such sales, how can you learn?

Buying domains in new gTLDs is equivalent to investing in real estate in some African country experiencing a civil war. You may waste 100% of your money that way.

Many good opportunities exist in extensions such as .COM, .NET, and .ORG. Those extensions have demonstrated value to consumers. They have the most sales per year, the longest sales period, and the highest sale prices by far. ccTLDs such as .DE and .CO.UK are also good investment areas, although .CO.UK is complicated by the forthcoming release of .UK. .DE in particular should be your focus, assuming you speak German.

For $100 you can get maybe 1 domain in a new extension, which may never have any buyers. Or you can do some research and buy 12 .COM or .NET domains. You'll learn more from those 12. And if you do things right, you'll make more money that way too.

Hi

Thank for your welcome. hahaaa :hehe: yep, that's it :). Well, I have like 5 of the new Domains... but at least there are not that expensive (40$-50$ per year). I think I will Keep them for a while but for sure not investing much more into the new Domains. Who knows... maybe the african Country geht's a Revolution :)

For sure I have to read a lot... :) And i was quite suprised, when i saw like sedo auctions what Domains go for Auctions and some (what i think Domains with potential) they do not accept.. well well... a lot do learn :)

What do you guys do with your Domains? Do you have them like listed here in a thread such as "my Portfolio"? How many Domains (average) are in your Portfolio?
