Not sure of the worth, but if this was the advertising board, I'd give you $50 for it.

They didn't surpass your expectations Wot?? :]

I have to agree with Wot on the Value. It's a short, very powerful, english dictionary word (and a .com to boot!).

The marketing applications are endless. Everyone would like consumers to believe that their product or service surpasses the the quality of the competition.

Reg'd since '97. Are you the original owner? ... if not .. then if you paid anything under lowXXXX .. you got a great deal. :gn:

I agree with wot..
"Does it have any meaning?" Give me a break. It's a common english word.
and gene, why post in the appraisals forum you have no idea of the value? pm him if you want to buy it

I'm always very conservative when I appraise, but I would say mid XXX to low-mid'ish XXXX for this one because it's one of very few domains on this forum that actually HAS meaning

Because it was said tongue-in-cheek. It was not a serious offer. Most folks here know I have experience in domain appraisal. If I owned surpass.com. I wouldn't sell it for less than $15,000. To the right buyer, it would probably sell for upward of $30,000.

surpass is a common word & let alone .com It isn't a noun its a verb so that brings the price down imo

Link: http://www.surpasssoftware.com

Surpass Software provides high-quality, easy-to-use library automation software to libraries world-wide. Surpass was founded by Danny Humphress in 1985. Mr. Humphress recalls, "The name 'Surpass' was a code name for the project ... our goal was not only to meet our competitors' efforts, but to surpass them in every way."

Our products are distributed worldwide from our sales office in Calhoun, GA, while development and support come from our Florida office.

I should think $3,875 - $5,500+/+ to the right End user (such as the link provided above), in a relative "Quick Sale" IMHO. :talk:
All the best!

Surpass is a powerful word. Shame on you Gene for your post. How can you say "not sure of it's worth"? This is an appraisal thread so if you weren't sure why did you post? Then you actually do post your appraisal!!! That's just not cool imho. Less like tongue in cheek and more like foot in mouth. :)

Surpass is a $xxx, xxx word possibly. Any big company might want it as a slogan use. When you launch a new product it should surpass the previous one or the competition. It's a perfect .com for such purposes.

$25k minimum but you could get $250k

I would hold this an try to find people in marketing. Try to get a giant company to use it for an ad campaign. They spend millions creating them and a 100k for the proper .com doesn't make them baulk.

Hmm...I wonder if it has rental value.

I've had the same problem here before. From some of the same appraisers.
It just seems they puposely try to drive down the market.

Not the case, do not give them so much credit they are not that smart.

It simply comes down to lack of knowledge and experience and absolute inability to follow the simple appraisal guidelines laid down by the mods. :(

Easy man. It was overly obvious that surpass.com was a high powered name. I'm so tired of the great names that pass through this supposed 'appraisal' board that get pegged for little or no value. I wanted to raise eyebrows, not be taken seriously. Maybe I should have added a rolling eyeballs graphic to my first post. And, I agree, I should have posted my true appraisal but I was in a sarcastic mood.
