advice surname domains

well not exactly surname domain, but something very similar, a cool idea. what do you think will that be possible to sell domains, if my name for example is john washinton, i could buy domain shington . com and have e-mail adress John.W@shington . com
what do you think will someone be interested in domains using that code ?
would that be a good investment or wasted money ?

I think the challenge you would have here is that these domains wont pass the "radio test"

Like the exmaple you used here... if he was giving his email address to someone over the phone he would say: John DOT W AT Shington DOT com ... he is going to end up spelling it to the person on the other end.
