I own a site that I have a whois gaurd on and I had someone contact me inquiring to buy my site.

The weird part is that its a political party. I was planning on using the site to voice my opinions towards everything that I wanted to rant and rave about in regards to politics.

How would this have happened?

Which whois guard is it ?

There are some services which assist users in sending messages via form [similar to a feedback form]which will be zipped accross to you by the provider.

If you have enabled whois email forwarding to your email id you will receive emails.
One option is to change the frequency of the randomly generated whois email ids.

The domain registrar likely has a form that lets people email you (if you have that option enabled) through their system, BUT does NOT show or divulge your email to the inquirer.

The purpose for this is just that, so you can hide your identity, but still have the benefit of letting outside parties email you if they're interested.

Make sure that it is not a domain name scam.

Search them here at NamePros (at the top of the homepage) and you'll see what I am talking about.

I didnt know if I could publicly talk about this stuff here. I wanted to set up texandemocrat dot com to my personal ranting blog about politics. I am in fact writing my code up for the whole deal.
Its so I can get a hot seat when they have the politics heat!

thanks for sharing. i think you have a great name there and if you plan on developing your blog, that will certainly increase the value. with regards to that offer, i would counter with 15K and take 10 if it were mine. good luck and welcome to NP.

I wrote back that saying that I would be willing to negotiate 15k but in the meantime, I'll be developing the site, if no other offers.

We'll see, I was going to go get it appraised, but I dont know what to look for.
