I was thinking about buying a domain name and then developing it to sell it off.

This particular domain name is a "green" related domain name and is 3 words. The keyword phrase in google has 1,300,000 results and gets over 30,000 searches a month according to wordtracker.

So my question is this: If I bought the domain, developed it until I had a #1 ranking in Google for the keyword phrase, would it be worth my time and do you think I could find a buyer with ease?

i'm sure you'll find buyers if you're ranking 1st on a phrase that's searched 30K times a month.

Thanks for your input shockie.

Any idea on how much the domain/site combo would be worth with those kinds of results?

it all depends on the keyword how close it calls for development, etc.

Just build it. Quit worrying about what it's worth at this point. If it's a good name, it's worth will become apparent after it's developed and gets visitors.

depends on what kind of development it gets and how much revenue it generates. i could probably give you a better appraisal on domain+site after the site's built.

#1 ranking in Google is really difficult (for competitive keywords) and if I achieved #1 ranking with one of my sites for a strong keyword, I would probably not sell it, as the domain should be making some nice money itself then.

word!

and they calculate these things most often at the value of the name x a multiple of the yearly revenue - say three times whatever that is.

can't hurt to develop something on a good name. beats parking.

I think you gonna buy some links for the new domain and sell it but when you stop paying for those links its PR will drop down again
