Streaming Video and Flash?

Hey everyone,

Is there a way to have live streaming video feed play through a Flash player somehow? Currently, we have a feed pulling to broadcast our programs in a Windows Media Player window, but we'd really like to provide something more lightweight and versatile and simply embedding a video.

Is this possible, or am I just dreaming?

Our video feed looks something like this; I have no idea what format it's playing in:
mms://rlmtv.com/RLMtv_Feed_1

Thanks for your help!
Steve

Pretty sure you can code flash to receive a feed, if you write your own flash player.
Im not experienced in streaming ActionScript, but i'd be 90% sure its possible..

Live streaming via flash is 100% POSSIBLE (look at sites such as ustream.tv and stickam.com). their live streaming services use flashplayer 10.

im sorry to say i have no idea how the backend of it works, but since it exists it definately is possible - hopefully somebody else would know how it's done (or worst comes to worst you could contact stickam / ustream and ask them who programmed their site and go from there)

Thanks, nasaboy007. That's a very good point and some great examples.

Anybody else? :]

You'll need to set up Flash Media Server

Here's a tutorial from Adobe's site:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/beginner_live_fms3.html

I haven't looked into the process of setting up and streaming from the server, but the actionscript for a player doesn't look too difficult.

Another possible option would be to use a JAVA applet (though, everyone seems to hate java applets these days) to play the live video stream. I haven't done too much research into it, but I'd assume there must be some sort of premade applets for playing live video streams online somewhere.

Thanks, Jim (long time no see, by the way). :)

I'll look into that. That link is helpful.

I hadn't considered Java; that's not a bad idea.
