I've been noticing a disturbing trend on social video sites like Stickam and Justin.tv: young kids coming online late at night in skimpy clothes, streaming a live broadcast, and letting themselves either be talked into disrobing by viewers or sometimes doing it on their own. I've reported several such instances on Justin.tv just today and while I see one channel has been deleted thus far, a few others haven't.
Does your child have a webcam? Do you alow your child on sites like MySpace, Stickam, Youtube, and Justin? Are you aware of what they do after you go to bed? What are kids that young doing up that late anyway?
I don't know the solution really.. Justin.tv, for example, needs to aggressively monitor their channels for these sorts of things and make some sort of attempt to regulate these youngsters who log on. Supposedly you have to be at least 13 and IMO, even 13 is too young judging by what's going on.
Parents need to be aware that these things are going on... it's not always the viewers fault either.. some of these girls come online knowing what they're doing and they do it to increase their viewer count! It's sickening.
Alot of these videos don't stay on Justin.. people are capturing them and uploading them to file sharing services like Rapidshare or sharing them via P2P.
If they can't regulate their users, they should be shut down until they can.
If parents can't keep a rein on their kid's interent use, maybe the kids should lose their access to the internet.
