Beyond a doubt. Athletes winning their names with great regularity. And we're not talking about any WIPO decision. We're talking in courts of law, especially in Europe.

There has been a rash to hurry up and reg potential superstars while still as young teenagers. Judges have found that this has deprived them of their rights and their name. In many cases, it is not even a matter of TradeMark...it is their birthright and name given to them by their parents that has sealed the deal time after time. Not to mention depriving them of their rights to their own name.

My concern here would be with the growing trend of judgements coming out of the European courts, at some point I foresee judgements awarding damages in the form of income earned on that person's name. I am not sure if this has been done yet.

I see these type of cases more and more with the English and European Soccer (football) youngsters. But it can also be said for the Canadian Hockey and American High School Basketball stars. This to me is the purest sense of cybersquatting and I do not even phathom how any of it is defensible from the standpoint of the registrant.

I would hate to be the domain holder to set the precedent for having a monetary judgement leveed against them for depriving the athelete or an major endorser like Nike from using the rights to a person's name.
