With 97% of the vote tallied at the time of this post, it appears Democrat Claire McCaskill has defeated Republican Jim Talent by a slim margin of 49% to Talent’s 47%.
McCaskill fought hard against Talent in the hotly contested Missouri race which often included fiery debate on Amendment 2, the Missouri State Stem Cell Initiative. McCaskill brought out the big guns with an emotional video depicting former television and movie actor Michael J. Fox, who suffers from the effects of Parkinson’s disease, appealing for voters to vote “yes” on Amendment 2 in Missouri. The amendement passed by a thin margin: 51% to 49%.
