I'v contacted him and he's just saying that his members Is puting them out, and he won't remove them :|

What can I do to stop this?

My site: braintrash.biz

If you're using cpanel with your hosting, there's a hotlink protection tool:

HotLink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files (as specified below) on your website. Other sites will still be able to link to any file type that you don't specify below (ie. html files). An example of hotlinking would be using a <img> tag to display an image from your site from somewhere else on the net. The end result is that the other site is stealing your bandwidth. You should ensure that all sites that you wish to allow direct links from are in the list below. This system attempts add all sites it knows you own to the list, however you may need to add others.

Depending oh how these other guys are linking him, that might or might not work...if they are just pasting a direct link, hotlink protection wont stop that...at least I dont think...and I dont know what would

If you change the URL of the movie, and then find a PHP script that would protect the URL location when that movie loads... that will likely work

change the location of the videos!

Also registrars rarely have ANYTHING to do with content, you need to contact the host, not the registrar...

try this: uploading on server that which is copyright and owned by another web site. I have known godaddy to stand up for this even if hosting provider won't agree, better call them it's the fastest, i hope it helps.

That would work. I recall another webmaster who had a similar problem, and he retaliated by renaming his files, then loading images (into the old urls) that said "such and such website stole this image from my website something.com. visit something.com to access more of this stuff". That shamed the thieving webmaster, and increased his own traffic. :tu:

Hmm i've been having a similar problem to this, using cpanel didn't help a great deal. But these suggestions from you guys/gals in here are very useful - i used the copyright/moving files n replacing with images thing... for a large site it gets a bit annoying and hard to do, but worth it for a while.

php scripts which generate codes as links also work great but i dont even know how to use them, had a friend do it for me once.

Try hotscripts.com for one if you can't code one yourself, they usually have a wide variety of free scripts available on several categories

I'd suggest you change the location of your file. Then setup a redirect from the old url to your site. Then people that try to download that file they will be redirected to your site :D

Use .htaccess to do this:
http://altlab.com/htaccess_tutorial.html

Where you see (jpe?g|gif|bmp|png, you can just add the video extention, e.g .AVI.

Hope that helps.

Also, you can change the images/nohotlink.jpg [which is the file that replaces it], to a video with a short message about your feelings to the site, something against the hotlinking site's rules ect. That will force the admin to take action...

That is too funny. I hate morons who steal not only your bandwidth but content because they are too lazy to get their own original stuff. I had some videos fresh from Iraq and Afghanistan that were swiped and being re-broadcast on other sites. I got the last laugh when I moved them to a protected directory and then subbed the old links for some raunchy granny porn.

set up your .htaccess to only allow access to the swf files from your domain

Try putting your website address into the videos (using Windows movie maker - its free)

It takes more time but at least wherever your content ends up (you are only listing the sites you found, there could be loads of others), they will be advertising your site for you :)
