And don't forget that it's a premium with a $100,000 yearly renewal fee.

That's what I call a terrific bargain ! :p

Sport.tv is a premium of $25

Now that's a real bargain!

This aside - what kind of balls must you have to stump up this much every year in the hope of a long term sale?

My very sporty hat is taken off to the man - may he enjoy his billion when he gets it!

i agree with .tv..

he is asking this because he can afford afford each year, imo...

wow...

look at his holdings...the guy is the big league...

Sheeraz Hasan owns multibillion dollar brands that are recognized all over the world in every language:

Hollywood.TV
Sports.TV
Dubai.TV
History.TV
LA.TV
Medicine.TV
NFL.TV
Immigration.TV
Savings.TV
NASCAR.TV
Millionaires.TV
Billionaires.TV
Muslims.TV

granted, couple of the names are trademarked and risky but besides those nice portfolio

i am sure he got a steal and heavily discounted on yearly fees...but thats speculation on my part and he knows people..

we touched base on his hollywood.tv a few months back...

Maybe he's currently developing sports.tv, so he doesn't really want to sell.

In this case he put this extremely high price tag for two reasons :

1) even if he's developing it, he might still consider selling but only to an enduser such as a major tv network for a very very high price (maybe not a billion but he wants to show that he's not interested in anything but very high offers)

2) he wants some free advertising on forums like NP (and he managed to get it) ;)

Actually he has got few discounts surprisingly. AND NFL and NASCAR are just a UDRP waiting really not smart regs IMO. NFL drops NFL.tv Verisign marks it up to $12,500 and he regs NFL.tv. I agree he does not want to sell SPORTS.tv its great PR, look someone posted it and people talking about.

Correct IMO - its a "got them talking" PR exercise.

Definitely promo. Its almost a leaf out of Donald Trump's book - promote your property before its developed. Increase interest and hopefully value.

Let me ask everyone what do you think of that ? If we are right and just a pr play ?

Good
Bad
Neutral

IMO it is a great name and he is not misleading anyone, it is just an outrageous number.

IMO, its not bad. Neutral to good - we can see it gets discussed. Free publicity. Its a silly outrageous price on a fantastic name. But just maybe it helps increase the buzz and possibly solicits interest on other levels such as partnerships, advertising, etc.

Agreed. It does get people talking. If that is the ultimate goal then its a win. If he really believes that such a price tag is plausible then he needs some mental assistance:)

There's a fine line beween bad BS and good BS.

With the good BS, its all said in a filippant fun way to put a smile on peoples faces. It like "oh yeahhh ... tell us another one". People remember it as outrageous and fun. This is good BS.

Bad BS, would be if he capped it at $1Om, because that is BS, and the reader is unsure whether he means it or not.

From what I have read about the owner, he is a character, and I think its great and in his style. As CarryOn said - its Donald Trumpish.
