serves them right, spyware dont really affect me, but its the people signing onto the internet who dont know what there doing, my parents has 142 pieces of ad/spy ware on there computer, it took me hours to remove as spybot couldnt do it all, i had to go into regedit, i hate the makers, and the providers, they should ALL be shutdown
One of the first. Other attempts have been made or suggested, but denied because of the disclaimer people page through when signing up.
it is a severe issue though.. one that no one is taking lightly (especially the govt due to some high level pc infections last year as reported on Janes)
the problem is money. the people who pay to have your information also have the money to pay for lawyers to fight so they can keep getting your information in this manner.
Within the coming year though, look for the major players (MS, IE, FF) as well as not so major players to be implementing new security features to effectively nullify known spyware threats (it my be on your PC but will be unable to communicate out).
This won't shut them down. They might get sued for a few million, but thats not really a lot when you are operating on their scale. They must be making $10 mil per day at least.
