Hi,

I enjoy Wyborowa brand Wodka; check out their campaign to change people from using the keyword vodka to Wodka here: www(dot)wodka(dot)com .

The basic concept is that vodka was initially invented in poland and is spelled "W"ODKA not "V"odka.

Want a brutally honest opinion since you asked for it, tuppence mate. You just lost your money down the drain, may as well get a bunch of notes and set a match to them for what these are worth.

Perfect waste of good money regging names like these, no doubt your registrar loves you, so would I if I ran a registration company.

If I was you I'd try to develop one or two of the names and contact the company to see if they might be interested in helping to promote them.

This is a long-shot, but if "wodka" becomes at least a universally acceptable term for Polish vodka I could see you having some success.

Probably wodkadrinks.com is where I would start... and just make up a site of vodka... err... wodka drink recipes.

Depending on how much money is put into this marketing campaign you might see lots of confused people doing web searches for just what the heck "wodka" is. So you may want to act quickly.

Agree totally with RWAC, even if this company is spending millions to get the 'WODKA' term in our heads, i cant see it ever catching on.

Firstly the term 'wodka' sounds so stupid, i couldn't imagine asking at a bar for a wodka.

Secondly the term 'vodka' has to much of a story and history to it for generations, no matter how much money they spend, you cant simply replace such a respected name as 'vodka' with such a silly name like 'wodka' just sounds totally retarded, no offense.

hmm, interesting comments. i think part of buying domains is taking a certain amount of risk that hopefully pay off. Perhaps I may be speculating with these, but I dont feel it is completely unfounded.
I speak German, and the "W" is pronounced as a "V" so if you search wodka on google, there are a number of german (polish) sites that use that keyword. I dont think their (Pernod Ricard, owner of the brand) point is to change people to pronounce the vodka with a "W" like "w"ater, they are just making a point that the history of vodka initially starts in poland as Wodka (where W is pronounced as V). I'm sure some russians may disagree.

However... Pernod Ricard owns brands such as Chivas, Malibu, Seagrams, Havana Club, so they may or may not know what they are doing, you can decide. I have both Russian and Polish friends, and there absolutely is a debate on who invented Vodka/Wodka.

I understand its a stretch, no need for sympathy on my gamble, but the campaign may have legs if the premium vodka drinkers learn a bit of history.
