Fresh regs; your thoughts on developing ideas for any of these names? Also, for value, as-is... any stand out?

FirstIdol.com -- American Idol fansite or reviews?
DeerGrass.com -- dunno. Real stuff, though, and pretty name. Picked it up as an expired name.
Jackassed.com
Jackasser.com
Jackassers.com -- okay, save the jokes. Was thinking of the movie, how these guys are now called 'jackassers', you've been 'jackassed', etc. Incidentally, Google brought up a lot of results for JackAsser, apparently someone's name. If my folks had the last name Asser, when I became of age I'd certainly slap them for naming me Jack. I think this dn was also an expired name.

Polite *bumpster* to the more active Monday morning crowd; anyone up to commenting on these names, for ideas and for value?

Bannen -

FirstIdol.com and DeerGrass.com are the only 2 names of this lot that seem to have any value. The FirstIdol.com is a nice brandable name that can be directed as a possible Idol site, or even a Kelly Clarkson site (her being the first winner). However, without development the name is low xx - reg fee. Almost no value to a reseller.

DeerGrass.com ironically I happy to know something about. There happens to be a gated community in Jacksonville, Florida called DeerGrass, very nice neighborhood with Golf Course and uptight wealthy people. I wouldnt be suprised if several housing communities use this name or a slight variation on it. I would believe the name may be of some value to the community, probably in the low xxx (this is of course to the end-user). I dont believe it will be much more than that as these gated communities pretty much use websites simply for informational purposes. Good luck though!

In my opinion you should not ask for appraisals for newly regged domains.

though i liked the domain firstidol.com and deergrass.com.but you will have to develop em to get some $$$.

Good luck mate.

Thanks for both comments; funny, I thought the Jackass' versions would be more attractive to people than the others.
That's the value of this forum :)

ET, the reason a huge number of us plant fresh regs up for appraisal is just that: we can't see all the angles, no matter how experienced we are, when we reg names on spec, and it's great to have this kind of forum to show us things we hadn't thought of. I always learn something new about domaining, and my names in particular, when people comment.

Another handy reason is: if, as happens to a lot of (especially new) domainers, someone regs one (or a few, or a ton) of names and finds out from more experienced domainers that those names are virtually useless, there's time to have the registrar drop those names. A good registrar will either give a refund or, more often, credit for another reg.

Yet another reason is to 'get your name out there'; if you're selling it, or developing it, you get a jump-start on peoples' memory by getting your name to the masses asap after the reg, then they remember seeing it before when they see it again for sale on Sedo, Afternic, etc etc, and start putting ownership to names (Oh, Bannen at namepros has that one, etc etc.)

Anyways, rather than starting a new thread, I'll post a couple more fresh ones here in case anyone trolls by and wants to hazard a comment:

PeoplePayer.com -- I thought this was extremely usable, memorable, and brandable, and easy to say, spell, etc. for banking, ecommerce, profits/investment, payroll services, etc.

Kiped.com -- picked this up only because it's a cool slang word (meaning to 'steal', as in, "someone hacked my registrar, kiped my valuable domain names, and now I'm only left with the garbage ones." )
And cool slang words, especially when they're short, real words like this, are prime for using to develop fun wacky sites.

Anyone have thoughts for PeoplePayer.com and Kiped.com?

First Idol = don't overlook the Japanese idol genre as well.. perhaps more valuable as a devved site than the American Idol variety;

wiki:

A Japanese idol (アイドル; aidoru) is a celebrity who achieves widespread popularity and fame in Japan largely by virtue of her looks. The term usually refers to female performers in their late teens and early twenties who are considered "kawaii" (pretty, cute) and achieve fame through publicity in the mass media. Male performers such as Masahiro Nakai (aka "Nakai-kun") from the singing group SMAP are also commonly referred to (and refer to themselves as) "idols." Japanese idols are predominantly singers and actors, as well as models (in the case of females) for weekly men's magazines such as "Friday" and "Shūkan Gendai". Some of them may also appear as TV personalities (tarento).

That was my thought exactly, nice suggestion; only I was thinking of using Jackassers.com for it and pointing the other 2, or saving them for affiliate/slightly different content. Thanks.

Thanks DG; that's somewhere I hadn't thought of taking it, and certainly something to think about. Working on a huge project lately, and for at least another month, but after that plan to develop a couple dozen more sites in a smaller way, this among them seems promising, and I'll sure think about your spin on it.
