So this domain I need expired today, what next?

I need to have this domain that expired today.

It is a .com that will most likely go unnoticed but you never know...

So what should I do in order to secure it?

Wait for 3 months and pay pool the day before?

I really cannot afford to lose it. ANY ADVICE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!

The domain drops exactly 180 days after it expires? Are there exceptions?

That tells you the process it will go through. Use http://www.whois.sc/domain.com (replace domain.com with the domain you want) to get updates on the whois every now and then.

Main backorder services: www.pool.com www.namewinner.com www.godaddy.com www.snapnames.com

^^ NW & GD are the cheaper options, Pool & NW are the best options. You won't be able to backorder until near its drop date (5 days or so on NW, not so sure of pool's).

So, check the progress of it, estimate a drop date, backorder it at a few places and pray

You can enter a backorder on pool at any time, even on a new name. You can also enter one on namewinner at any time in the process if you enter it through the bulk bid page instead of the single domain entry page.
