I own slowcooking.com and am looking for an appraisal to help me decide on my next steps.

Acquisition Reason: I had planned to build an authority site about slow cooking recipes, and monetize with Adsense and Amazon affiliate products, but never found the time to develop it. I installed WordPress and put a couple of articles up, but that's all. Hasn't been touched in years...

Markets: Recipe enthusiasts particularly looking for recipes to be made in the slow cooker / crockpot. Could be potential to capitalize on the various special dietary needs and create categories based around slow cooker gluten free, paleo, etc. etc. Also possibility for crockpot reviews, and possible other related kitchen items.

Value: I paid $1200 for this domain name back in 2004, but I'm unsure what the end user value / cost should be. I would like to get at least my original investment back if possible.

Traffic: I haven't had analytics on the site, so no idea. Just turned on Clicky to see if people actually somehow find it when searching..

Revenue: Not earning any revenue

Age: 17 years, 5 months

Miscellaneous: I'm new to selling domains, and trying to determine if it's worth attempting to sell this domain or if I should try to develop into a property. There is other competition out there, but it feels like it should be a brandable premium name. Of course, I'm a newbie and could be completely delusional :)

If I were to keep it, there would be quite a bit of work involved to get it generating revenue on a consistent basis. Before I go that route, I'd like to see if this is a domain that could sell for a decent return on my investment.

Thanks in advance for your appraisal!

I see it's regged in the other main extensions. Using domainiq, it says 83 other domains have the term slowcooking in their domain, yours is the best out of them all. So those are potential buyers.

Some other cooking sales - https://namebio.com/?s==kDMwgzM2ITM

I think you can make your money back at least, somewhere in the x,xxx

search term: slow cooking
monthly search volume: 246,000

There are quite a few advertisers in this niche.

You should actively start outbound activities to find an enduser.

Sales price: minimum 2k

Wish you all the best!

Very solid name. I'd say high $x,xxx to low $xx,xxx

IMHO Don't auction this. There are enough big players in the slow cooking space that would likely be very interested if you were to contact them directly. Do your homework. Build your contact list and do it right.

Subject your email: slowcooking.com

It'll get opened.

It's the best name in the space.

that could be a 5 figure name

keep it until an offer comes
that gets you a nice return of your investment
( money spend + time + renewals )

add it at sedo and afternic and wait another 10 years

good luck

Maybe depending on your location but I have never heard of slow cooking and would figure most would search for slow cooker recipes.

In any case, great domain.

Personally I would develop it, especially if you had intentions of doing so before.

Develop it and flip it then if you want.

Good domains in the cooking niche are awesome. I think this is a real beauty... not sure what your time and circumstances are but if you have the time and are not in a hurry to sell then might be worth your while to continue developing this.

Get the site running with good content and start building an audience and add a signup form to help build a list. Don't monetize the site or the list just yet... maybe send out only a monthly newsletter as a recap of all the recipes you added to the site that month

While you are working on the site, start contacting a few slow cooking pot manuacturers that offer drop shipping... order a few different ones and find one that you feel is the best quality and value for money. Then arrange for them to brand this pot for you (if you commit to a minimum order quantity most of them will agree)

Once you have decent traffic coming into the site and your list starts to grow..instead of monetizing with adsense and amazon. Use the site to launch your own branded CrockPot and branded slow cooking accessories.
