Silly .US question

I am based in the UK, however I have found a .US name available which I think could turn a profit.

Am I correct in assuming that I can't register it as I am not American or living in the US?

..or just ask a US friend to be a Registrant and use his/her details for whois info
..or find a registrar that offers US local presence/trustee service ..there are plenty ..some are free or require a moderate yearly fee

yes, on google.com

101domain.com for a quick example.. not sure if their trustee service prices are good for .us thou.. google some more and compare
