How do these ridiculously long, hyphenated and obscure domain names with zero keyword volume keep selling daily for silly money like $ 10000 or $ 15000 when a very good name for example deep//future//com (no connection) only sells yesterday for $ 4k? Is this industry rigged or what?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Check their SEO parameters to understand...

But surely deep//future//com is worth more than $ 4000? It sounds like a global A.I. company from the Space Age imo.

That's a reasonable reseller price for that name imo. Maybe even a bit high for a reseller.

As mentioned above, check the backlinks pointing to them. Not just the quantity of them but the quality too.

halftheskymovement dot org for example has around 3k referring domains but there are huge names in there like NYTimes, HuffPost and lots of similar ones.

Hi

it's simple.....
cuz you think, that a domain has to have high keyword volume to be appealing, when it does not.

and that's why some of them sell for serious money.

also, every buyer, doesn't go and search keyword volume before they purchase a domain.

imo...

@biggie I get your point and it's true I mainly look for keyword volume to use for developing websites, also for selling those developed sites later if the right offer comes. Also @akos I have never looked at the quantity or the quality of backlinks. Thanks for the tip. I'm learning every day.

Have a question @akos @Jurgen Wolf if you found a domain name example half the sky movement dot org with 3000 back links then how do you check the quality of each link without manually checking every single one? I would like to know also what are the factors of how you measure the quality of a backlink please and which websites//softwares do you trust or distrust for this task? Cheers.

Something I've learned the hard way the average end user doesn't know what the fuck SEO means nor do they care. If you buy something because you like its SEO value realize that is probably going to have to be used for a project unless it's a really obvious generic term.

Additionally any name with existing SEO will fetch a premium as they like having the work done for them if a business use is planned.

Correct, when you have a name that fits all the SEO metrics they are like I don't care, I offer $500.
