The question is in which order the following rungs of the ladder must be climbed:
- Superintelligences can be built and used as standard applications.
- Endusers use .si for applications and marketing related to Superintelligence.
- The .si registry ARNES actively opens for the reading "si = Superintelligence".
- Google treats the ccTLD .si like a gTLD.
Probably the last point should come first.
I wonder if Google is making such upgrades on its own or if the industry needs to step up.
If the latter: Is a well-known domainer with good relationships with Internet companies sufficient? Should a group of domainers come together, does the registry have to make an appearance or even ICANN start an initiative?
According to
this reference, Google requires an international user base to treat country domains as gTLDs:
"Google treats some ccTLDs (such as tv and .me) as gTLDs, as we've found that users and website owners frequently see these more generic than country-targeted. Here is a list of those ccTLDs (this list may change)."
With endings like .me and .co, this requirement was met from the start. These ccTLDs were launched with the aim of a global usage.
Dot.si was initially reserved for Slovenian companies and private individuals. At some point an opening for international trademark holders followed. Registrations by foreigners were allowed without restrictions in the fall of 2008, if I remember correctly. At least, I would say.
Question to everyone: What should be done to get Google to treat .si as a gTLD?
