Shoutcast server

Hi guys,

Were would i go about getting a good shoutcast server, and how hard are they to configure and broadcast from? im a complete idiot when it comes to this type of server so if someone could point me in the right direction i would apprecaite it.

Chances are you are fine with a shared host. Unless you are somehow established you wont need more then like 25 lissioners for a start.

i think i need up to 100 listeners for now, is that possible? i have a VPS server right now, can you put shoucast on any server? ive had a look over google and its a little complicated reading wise.

you should work on getting a control panel to help you manage it - i recommend WHMSonic - i use it for my clients and they Love it.

And you can get up to a 100 listeners without a problem but if you are just starting out, you should start small, and then raise the limits as time passes - but since you have a VPS you can really set your limit to anything you want.

A would be fine. You should think about music licensing if you intend to legally stream music. You should check it is allowed with the DC/your provider.

Fine solutions for radio shoutcasting are offered by santrex.net. You can see the offer on the site www.santrex.net. This company is one of the multifaceted providers, who cheaply offer and allow almost everything related to hosting.

Cannot comment if it is hard to deal with shoutcasting, but it is really worth to deal with santrex.

You know I can recommend you to use service from Glowhost.com, this company has provided media hosting (FFmpeg, shoutcast and podcast support).
I believe they will be fit all your demands.

I have thought that services from apthost.com may be useful for you, they have ffmpeg module on their servers too and that fact can be in use for you. Their offers are not expensive and you may use discounts that this company has a lot.

I looked through the suggested companies, and can express my point: I cannot say if it is very difficult to run a shoutcas station, but I think it is not really very hard. The best, to my mind, options are offere by santrex.net - the company is only one among suggested which has shoutcast hosting accounts, with all necessary scripts installed. The more so because they are cheaper than others.

In this case better have specialized service or at least VPS or dedicated. Such operations as not easy for the shared web hosting accounts
