Domain Empire

debate Should we BAN the Premium/SuperPremium words from Domaining?

I don't know what you think but after 10 years of domaining I'm super-sick of hearing the words "Premium" or "SuperPremium" in any damn domain sale.
And I'm guilty too because I often use these terms. And then I realise that they're the most useless words in the world since every domainer says that his domains are SuperPremiums!

Buy now the SuperPremium domains:

- FishingWithFriendsInAHotSummerDay.cars
- LoveIsInTheAirForAllThePeopleThatStillBelivesInLove.Irish
- CarRentalCheapAndReliableInDublin.us
- CricketSoccerBaseballFootballVolleyballPokerHorseRacingPassion.com

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
How about virgin domains? Domains so pure, they have never been registered before?

PS nice sig @zurc.net : wink :

While we're at it, I'd love to ban the term 'Rare' from domain name promotion, seeing how every domain is unique anyway.

Due to all new gTLDs, "premium" also implies that a domain might have a higher renewal fee. This does obviously not include.com, .net, .org.

In my world a REAL premium name is a L.com, LL.com, LLL.com, N.com, NN.com, NNN.com, NNNN.com, LN.com NL.com, a good one-word .com or a perfectly matched two-word .com with massive of Google search volume.

It might also be very short .net, .org or common ccTLD name. Or one-word .net, .org or common ccTLD, with massive of Google search volume.

In the future, I think it might include perfectly matched new gTLDs, such as: Night.club, Buy.pizza and Marijuana.shop.

That's my two cents...

Premium domains don't need labels they sell themselves. Turds need labels. Need domains to have a scent to them so ya can just scratch and sniff for the turd smell.

Yes. Not because there aren't premium domains that get listed but the majority of green investors don't know what "premium" means.

Ban it!

My favorite is when they describe their domains as "hand picked".

If a painting is worth millions, then the artist is dead. :)

I don't know, when I want to buy a name I like to see it as it is. No "super premium", no "category killer" and "evergreen niche". I want the seller sell me (and myself as seller) his pure name. If the name is really good, all other advertisement additions are not needed.

How many "Hot" women or men do ya see walking down the street with t-shirts on that say "Hot"

How many fast cars need to put a "Sport" label on da back of the car. Usually it's slow cars that need to call themselves Sport.

So I guess we don't need labels for the obvious only need labels to try and confuse people into thinking that that 4 cylinder turns into a V-8 once ya toss a "Sport" label made of plastic on da back of it.

LOL. We all tend to fall in love with our own names. I think this might be the second most counterproductive factor in domaining. The first one should be hand-regging shitty names. ;)

Agree the word "premium" is thrown out there way too often. I own some good domains. I do use the terminology "premium" to separate out my best domains that I feel are really category killers from the middle of the road domains.

For the most part I agree with Fancy Domains definition of premium. I had a few dozen premium new GTLDs that I recently dropped. The current renewal price of those new Gs combined with the instability of future renewal pricing of New Gs in general make it hard for me to consider any Gs premium at this point.

In the old days ( 2003 and after) when someone was calling a domain Premium and it wasn't one or two words ( very strong keywords) com everybody was laughing at him. Even commenting at a sale thread was a must and without complains from the moderators. Try it now and you might get banned.
I remember at the appraisal forum , some domains like " ordered.com" getting $0 valuation - specially from someone called Ed ( or something like this) - cause it was past tense..
These days I offered a 2 words Super Premium .com :) ( meaning more than 150k exact searches per month for low $x,xxx ) and I got no answer.. It wasn't short chip domain and not a product. ( not my signature domain)
I guess everybody now thinks that they can buy "old school premiums" for $xxx and sell chips for $xx,xxx .
We could easily give the forum a new name SellingOnlyToChineseNamepros.com
And yes strong .info's can have value. I have seen info's ranking well for the keyword in the domain and that is a plus since gaining google traffic for other keywords with all that link building-seo looks impossible. An info with 200k searches per month is much better than a com with 20k per month if you are after google traffic

I think I'll start using the word "fresh" for names that I've just registered. :)

They are asking over $4,000 for freshnames.com

All you guys selling tired old premium names with lots of age should switch to fresh young names. I'm starting a trend to promote fresh hand reg'd names for high prices. :)

my new slogan - " Fresh names without premium prices". :)

Leg it .info - makes me think of run away from info as fast as you can. :)

LOL,

Domainer's logic nowadays:

- I have Leprechaun.info
- Leprechauns have a s**t load of gold
- This makes it a golden domain :woot:

P. S. I actually have Leprechaun.info :giggle:
