Should I except?

Someone has offered to sell my domain, only if I agree to give them the authority to sell at $1,500. They would charge 10% of the selling price or $500, which ever is higher. I have only had this domain for 44 days, with a traffic of 62. I'm in no rush to sell. Would it be foolish not to except this offer?

If they want to sell it at $1,500 .... and they want to take 10% or $500 "whichever is higher".... there doesn't seem to be much of a "whichever" at work (As 10% would be $150)....
That being said, straight 10% is fine, IMHO. But $500 on a $1500 domain... unless you were only looking to make $1,000 from it anyway... Meh, pass.

We need to know what the domain is.
Maybe it's worth more that $1500 and they're playing a "I-am-not-desperate-I-don't-really-need-this-it's-for-someone-else" trick.

I guess I should explain more fully. This offer is from a well known domain seller. The list price would be $5,000 and the reserve price $1,500, (which they could except without my permission). The $500 is for the cost to them for the transaction fee. The agreement would be for 6 months. If I sign this agreement, they will be able to sell my domain without my consent over the next six months. Since I've only had the domain for such a short time, would it be unwise to enter into this contract? I'm sure everything is on the up and up and they are a great domain seller (that's the only reason Im debating this offer) but is it wise to lose so much control over ones domain so early in the game?

The "early in the game" isn't the issue to me. To me it's paying a 1/3 finder's fee. IOW, if the sell it for $5,000 or $1,500, they get the same payment. Removing incentive is a bad idea ;)

Offer to sell it to them for $1000. This will test the genuineness of their confidence to sell, otherwise do not bother with the agency blather.

Would it be wise for me to answer that question Redleg?

Let me guess... GreatDomains?
I can tell without even knowing what your domain is - it's not worth a fraction of $1500. Go ahead and list it, you've got nothing to lose. Chances of selling are slim anyway.

I endorse that. You should not accept 1/3 of the minimum estimated price without cross checking them.

If you're asking whether or not you should "accept", then yes, in my opinion you should.

Did they approach you or vice versa? $500 on $1500 yeah right!

It certainly smells of notsogreatdomains :gl:

Give it a miss

No I haven't listed it or asked for the $1000.00. I was thanking Midano for helping me learn a little more about how things are done. It's just one more interesting lesson I've learned on this forum. I now understand a little more about how domain sellers operate. I feel very comfortable with Sedo. No pressure of any kind..No contracts to sign..No price to worry about..A straight 10% fee..Just list and relax. When I wrote them about a problem they fixed it in a very short period of time. What more can I say. Sedo is perfect for the inexperienced domainer.

I asked them to list my domain, thinking all domain sellers were like Sedo. My mistake...lessons are only learned by making mistakes!

is domain listed at g****domains.com give them right to prohibit domain seller from listing that domain at any other place or sell the domain through private negotiation?

If someone bought it for your reserve price of $1500
and you give them $500 for the brokerage
That's a 33% fee
I'll definately pass :)

I haven't presused this matter further (and don't intend to) so I'm not sure what the agreement details would include beyond the commission price.
