Hi,

I own and operate dozens of sites (including EstiBot.com) and I need a new host (shared) for some sites that I'm planning.

My requirements - the following are absolute.

cPanel (classic!)
MySQL
Php 5
Unlimited addon domains
Complete DNS management
Shell access (ssh)
----------

...and the other usual stuff, FTP access etc etc

Cheap domain registration, AND a working domain control panel that keeps itself updated!

A named customer support representative who deals with my requests personally.

Room for growth and easy upgrade: should I need to upgrade to virtual dedicated or dedicated, I want it done smoothly by collaboration of my credit card and the hosting company, not by my own manual work.

CHEAP starting package - I'm not going to use this for EstiBot, but some lower traffic sites.

What say you - my requirements too stringent for a shared package?

Tell me what you CAN offer, and at what price. Smooth operation is everything, cheap is good, but it doesn't matter to me whether the cost is $5 or $30 per month as long as I get my money's worth.

I'm on the lookout again, I'll keep a couple of sites on Apthost since I already paid for a year, but I need more hosting options since this does not look like something that I would plan on for growth. It's very likely that I'll need a new dedicated server sooner or later, and I want a host that makes growth painless....

I have contacted eUKhost now, will try them out and will keep everyone informed of how things move along

For anyone else reading this and wondering about all these hosts, I am personally using Hostgator for a dedicated server, very happy indeed with them.

Also I'm using Bluehost for shared plans, very happy although with about 3,000 hits per day, it's easy to exceed your CPU quota there it seems. But that's cheap shared hosting for you, I still think they are great value for money, as I'm hosting about 20 sites on my $6.95 plan.

Apthost is under probation with me, even with their reseller plan the performance is subpar, and customer support doesn't have a clue. They promised me the world on presale chat. Still hopeful though, will keep you posted on whether they deliver in the end.

Shared hosting is never quite what you expect, I've found. Just have to bite the bullet - for $6.95 a month you will not get the world. As long as you keep your expectations realistic, shared plans can be very cost-effective.

They allow SSH & have the classic CPANEL. Their tech support is awesome.

I paid in good faith, and because it was cheaper that way...

Yeah, I'm going to ask for my money back unless they get their act together.

Don't worry -NC-, it's not your fault, and I'm quite used to this sort of thing, these are just losses that an active webmaster has to factor in. Eventually I'll find a good host.
