Check the end of the thread for the latest LLL.in drops. Current full available lists are posted intermittently by members, and the most current would be toward the end of the thread also. Otherwise, user Chandan often has an updated available list on his external site, here: Available LLL.in Domains list - Indian Blogs

What's wrong with using scripts?

I hope people aren't starting to take this the wrong way... I mean I see nothing at all wrong in using scripts to catch names. It means those who have scripts have an advantage over those who don't (eg. me) but I don't see anything wrong with that.

Its just the way it is.

Now its people using scripts vs people who don't. Not too long from now it will be people using scripts vs domain registrars/ snapnames, namejet etc. etc. Just the way it is.

If I had a script, I'd be using it without a second thought.

But I don't. So who cares. I'll keep trying manually though. I stand a better chance getting a LLL.in than say LLL.net or .com - so keep goin' keep tryin' I say.

:)

Guys, I was sitting around the other morning at 4am to manually try to catch an lll.in. I got up early just for that. Like a monkey, I just did the same thing again and again until 4:15, when I figured I was shot.

Then after 5am (Japan time) some of you posted to say you'd missed out, too. After 5. In other words, I woke up an hour earlier than necessary, and wasted my time, then drank coffee and had breakfast while the real action was happening.

Bloody crushed....

You live and learn lol, sorry to laugh but hope you saw the lighter side too. I did exactly the same thing the first time I tried to catch one of these. It was on a day when there was about 10-15 names dropping all at once. I missed them all - an hour too early.

Nevermind, you'll have many more chances. Keep at it.

;)

zone file? I thought it was already said here that guys have a database of the domains and there expiry. Not sure how they got that but you can run a script which goes through all the LLL.in and gets the expiry date and saves it to a database. Not to difficult to make but might take like an hour to run through all the LLL.in.

Yes its possible to find LLL.in's dropping like that, but the zone file was mentioned by Vincente because of the wide variety of names that were being posted before they dropped. Not just LLL.in's.

Meditang was being accused of possesing a zone-file, but has denied this. I don't know how all this works, not as experienced as others in this field. I didn't know what a zone-file was until a week ago anyway.

But it would be interesting to learn how to find out whats dropping, 3L's 5L's 10L's -- whatever length really. But I guess no one's willing to share, can't blame em ;)

Yeah I think Meditang or someone else already mentioned they have a sql dump of all registered .in domains, how they got that is unknown but maybe if you are a reseller or a registrar you can get it. Zone files on the other hand would be very hard to obtain.

Wiki says:

A zone file is a database element of the domain name system (DNS) originally used by the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) software package and other DNS server software. As such it has derived its definition from the structure of the input data of the BIND program. A zone file typically contains information that defines mappings between domain names and IP addresses and other resources, organized in form of so-called zone resource records (RR). Resolving a name into a numeric resource is often called a 'forward' map using a forward-zone file, and the reverse map, translating an address into a name uses 'reverse'-zone files. A zone is the portion of a domain or the entire DNS name space of which management has been delegated. This applies at all levels of top-level domains and subdomains. The zone file is the database representation of such delegation.

Zone Files contain the list of domain names in a given TLD and their nameservers.
Here is an excerpt of a typical .com zone file:

The file begins with a header then the list of names begins. The first relevant entry is in bold:
ASGARD NS NS13.WORLDNIC
ASGARD NS NS14.WORLDNIC
It means domain ASGARD(.com) uses name servers NS13.WORLDNIC.COM & NS13.WORLDNIC.COM. There is one line per name server entry. Most names have 2 name servers so they appear twice.
Obviously with 70M+ .com registered the .com zone file is huge (6Gb+ uncompressed).
PS: the domains with no name servers are missing from the zone.

If I'm not mistaken Dan Rubin is our friend 'filter'.

Don't know how he's doing it but well done nonetheless.

Both are excellent catches imo.
