I was browsing some forums today and thought of a way to get more of your forum indexed by google and other search engines. Most forum software sets the thread display rate to 30 days. This means that if a search engine is crawling your forum display page, it would only crawl the last 30 days worth of posts. But if you change the default to "From the beginning" or "show all threads" search engines will be able to index more posts. And as we all know, more indexed equals more entry points to your site.

yeah, but it would take the page about 24 hours to finish loading

Not really. The posts would be there, but they all wouldn't be on the same page. It's relatively quick for it to count how many pages there are and then display it at the bottom.

hes talking about displaying all of the topic titles on the same page, not multiple pages

I am talking about multiple pages with the links to later pages at the bottom. Its just that most forums are set to show 30 days worth of posts on however many pages it may take up.

With what I proposed, the forum would show all posts in the forum on multiple pages
