Sedo released its weekly report of domain sales. The Spanish domain Normal.es scored an above normal price, selling at $65,000 dollars.

Do you know why this might have been the case?
I am new to domaining, and I keep hear people say that ATL TDLs aren't very important, that it's all about .com
Then I see this. 65K seems pretty important to me.

Because that's what the seller asked for and the buyer agreed. Every sale requires these parameters in order to take place.

Number one rule of domaining is: know what you're doing (or lose money).
The .com market might be the biggest but it's also the most crowded.
Instead of "hearing people say" it might be a better idea to start with something you're most familiar with.
