Sedo vs Namedrive

Hi,

I have all of my domains parked at Sedo. A few of my names get reasonable traffic but the CTR is dreadful! I have tried all manner of keywords but without consistent success.

I am thinking of trying some domains at Namedrive as their parked pages are colorful and almost look like real websites as opposed to the bland Sedo pages. I feel I would be much more likely to get clicks. I don't have enough domains to qualify for Sedo Pro.

If namedrive offered such good reporting for potential buyers as Sedo, I would have no hesitation. Buyers on Namedrive are merely asked to submit a purchase offer and don't get to see any stats.

If I stop parking my names at Sedo, my rankings at Sedo will drop, my unique views won't be displayed and thus my likelihood of a sale there also diminishes. I currently enjoy very good rankings.

So it's a toss up between sales or parking revenue. It would appear you can't have your cake and eat it. Am I missing something?

Matt.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I don't park at Sedo so can't answer your question. What I can say though, is that I have had twice as many enquiries for domains in 2 months at Namedrive, than in the previous 12 months at Trafficz.

On top of that I'm making approx twice as much parking revenue.

it also sounds as if you have not got much in the way of sales at sedo, so why not give namedrive a whirl with some selected names?

I get some offers at NameDrive too. Sedo, like only once, odd since they are the sales site.

You can make Sedo pages colorful too by changing the template (go to My Sedo -> Domain Parking, then click on Switch to Optimizer and select the templates and photos you want to use).

Thanks for the good suggestions and info.

I am going to park a name or two at ND to see how it goes. Chances are, according to your feedback, I won't regret it.

I will create an Amazon aStore with another. Amazon may be best because, according to them, it's ok to link to and otherwise promote aStores. So much better than parking!

I'm also going to open an account at Commission Junction (cj.com) to experiment with different types of affiliate ads on my main site and on any others I care to develop (my web design skills are limited but I've got to start somewhere and it's great fun).

You know, I've been parking at Sedo for ages and never knew that! I'll go take a peek. Thanks.

You're welcome. I didn't know that either, until recently when I took a closer look of what Sedo has to offer.

I have received far more offers through namedrive than Sedo. Sedo don't look after you like Ed & co at namedrive- you get 'real' customer support there IMHO.

what's a 'ranking' at sedo?

I have the domain, godslot.com If a buyer types in the keyword, 'God' my domain appears 29th on a list of 3282 domains sorted by quality. One reason is probably because god slot is a dictionary term, but there is another reason. Sedo gives better position to domains for sale that are also parked there.

Parking domains at Sedo gives you more chance of selling there because you appear higher in the search results and you have greater chance of being found by a buyer. That's what I meant by ranking.

My analysis is that if selling a domain name is your priority on getting revenue from traffic/clicks then park it at sedo.
If you own a domain with good traffic and selling is not your 1st priority then park it at NameDrive.

I have noticed that at sedo you get more exposure to your domain name in terms of people wanting to buy domains, but you get a better optimized page and far better clicks/revenue at NameDrive.
